Amgen's Military Fellowship Program
Military service members within their last 180 days of active duty and military spouses are eligible to apply to Amgen’s Military Fellowship Program. By partnering with organizations such as Hiring Our Heroes and the Department of Defense SkillBridge Program, transitioning service members have more opportunities to train in their desired profession.
With mentoring and coaching from veteran employees at Amgen—including weekly cohort meetings with other fellows, fellowship alumni and our veteran employee network—you can make tremendous progress in your professional journey long before your first day.

Meet Amgen Veterans
Jorge Rosado, U.S. Army
Business Systems Analyst
"Before joining Amgen, I served in the United States Army as a tank crewman. In addition to being a member of the Amgen Veteran Employee Network (AVEN), I am also a member of our Recognition of Indigenous Peoples, Values and Environmental Resources (RIVER) ERG.
I joined the military coming out of high school. Service wasn't foremost on my mind growing up, but as a young adult, I was looking for purpose and direction. At the very least, I would be learning some technical skills that could also be useful later in life. What I didn't expect upon enlisting was how much life experience the army would give me. It doesn't really matter what you look like or where you come from. What really matters is that your teammates can trust you to do the job at hand."
Sunny M. Montas, U.S. Marines
Biopharmaceutical Operations Counsel
"As a child of immigrants, I felt that serving my country was a small price to pay for the lifetime of freedom that I was blessed with by simply being born in the United States. During my Marine Corps career, I had the honor of serving on both the East and West coasts of the U.S., Japan for 3 tours, and visited a variety of overseas locations.
In the military, I served my country and now I serve patients. I was able to join Amgen through its Hiring Our Heroes Corporate Fellowship Program, a 12-week paid leave of absence from the military where the servicemember gains critical corporate experience while they are transitioning out of the military. The fellowship allowed me to demonstrate the value I could add. I now provide practical legal advice to global operations, global regulatory affairs, and safety client groups at Amgen."
Kevin Hu, U.S. Army
Senior Manager, Value & Access
"Prior to Amgen, I spent eight years as an Infantry officer in the US Army. The most common reaction I get when telling my former military colleagues that I work for Amgen is that my new career is completely different than my old one. In many ways, that is quite true. But while my daily habits have changed quite a bit, the ability to be of service to others in a way that helps create the kind of change I want to see in the world is something that has remained consistent.
Since joining the company, I have been fortunate to serve on teams bringing transformative therapies to lung cancer patients. Outside of Amgen, I enjoy working for non-profit veteran organizations such as Service to School, which helps reduce barriers to higher education by providing free college and graduate school application counseling to veterans and service members."
Andrew Montgomery, U.S. Marines
Business Performance Manager
"After graduating from California State University Northridge, I commissioned as an Officer in the Marine Corps. Overall, I served for 7 years, including as an aviation supply officer. In the Marines, I received leadership and technical training, as well as military education appropriate for each rank I attained, including Expeditionary Warfare School.
Today, I am a business performance manager in the manufacturing and clinical supply group at Amgen’s Thousand Oaks, California location. I am focused on operational excellence to improve processes and increase overall productivity. Transitioning from the military can be a difficult time for service members. I would like to express gratitude to my fellow employees for making Amgen an excellent place to work."
