Director, Engineering - Process and Automation
What you will do
Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. In this vital role you will lead and manage upstream, downstream, and automation engineering functions. This position is responsible for overseeing 24x7 Engineering Technical Support, New Product Introductions, change controls for Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPAs), and continuous improvement opportunities. The Director will be an integral part of the Facilities and Engineering Leadership team as well as the Site’s Extended Leadership Team. Additionally, the successful candidate will be expected to anticipate the future needs of the Facilities and Engineering organization and the site overall, and actively participate in network forums such as the Engineering Global Network.

Responsible for management of Upstream, Downstream and Automation Engineering team.
24x7 Engineering Technical Support: Supervise the provision of round-the-clock technical support to address and resolve engineering issues promptly.
New Product Introductions: Oversee the introduction of new products, ensuring seamless integration into existing processes and systems.
Change Controls for CAPAs: Implement and manage change controls for Corrective and Preventive Actions to ensure compliance and continual improvement.
Continuous Improvement Opportunities: Identify and drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational effectiveness and efficiency.
Anticipate Future Needs: Anticipate and address the future needs of the Facilities and Engineering organization and the site overall.
Ability to positively influence peers and executive leadership team of a site
Demonstrated ability to lead and develop large organizations with multiple layers of management.
Broad perspective, problem solving, goal oriented, process oriented, innovation, influence and ability to research a problem and a solution.
Experience in providing technical problem-solving skills involving sites and functions within a complex corporation
Ability to collaborate with technical, scientific and management internal user groups.
Interpersonal and facilitation skills vital to forge consensus among competing clients’ interests on critical and time-sensitive issues—important in ensuring that, within Amgen's collaborative culture, objectives are met on time and on budget.
Must be onsite daily and willingness to work flexible hours as needed.

Basic Qualifications:
Doctorate degree and 4 years of pharmaceutical/biopharmaceutical Engineering, Manufacturing or a related technical discipline experience
Or
Master’s degree and 8 years of pharmaceutical/biopharmaceutical Engineering, Manufacturing or a related technical discipline experience
Or
Bachelor’s degree and 10 years of pharmaceutical/biopharmaceutical Engineering, Manufacturing or a related technical discipline experience
In addition to meeting at least one of the above requirements, you must have at least 4 years experience directly managing people and/or leadership experience leading teams, projects, programs, or directing the allocation or resources. Your managerial experience may run concurrently with the required technical experience referenced above
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field; advanced degree preferred.
Minimum of 10 years of experience in engineering management, with a focus on upstream, downstream, and automation engineering.
Consistent track record of leading large teams and running complex projects.
Solid understanding of 24x7 technical support systems and processes.
Experience with new product introductions and change control management for CAPAs.
Excellent problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills.
Active Participation: Engage actively in network forums such as the Engineering Global Network.
Must be onsite daily.

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
