Precision Medicine Manager Program Manager (PM) – Discovery Biomarkers; Precision Medicine Unit

What you will do

In this vital role you will work closely with the Discovery Biomarkers Team and Research Precision Medicine Lead (R-PML) to advance the development and execution of Precision Medicine plans. The Discovery Biomarkers team engages on preclinical programs starting at the Screening/EO phase, focusing primarily on identifying biomarkers that support target engagement, PD and patient selection hypothesis. The key objective is to establish biomarkers that effectively integrate clinical decision-making from the initiation of FIH studies onward. This role will serve as the steward of a cross-functional team to develop and implement translational and precision medicine strategies to support asset (and above-asset, as needed) development across the product lifecycle. Additionally, you will partner with cross functional senior collaborators and teams across Research to guide the development of translational, reverse translational, and precision medicine strategies.

  • Serve as the main collaborator of the Research PMed Teams (R-PMTs) by supporting the strategic planning, monitor the execution of high quality, integrated cross-functional PMed Plans in support of the overall asset strategy & value.

  • Lead research collaborations and reverse translational initiatives in collaboration with the research and development organization along with any external collaborators identified.

  • Responsible for developing the rPMED budget for each program and monitoring team expenses to ensure alignment with financial goals.

  • Accountable for creating and maintaining execution timelines to track team progress and promptly identify any deviations from the approved plan.

  • Lead PMed team meetings, ensuring that agendas are clearly defined, meeting minutes are accurately recorded, and outcomes are effectively reflected in both the timeline and budget.

  • Work closely with the Head of Precision Medicine PMO Team to raise any risks/issues and develop mitigation strategies.

  • Apply PM standard processes in the planning, development, initiation, execution, QA/QC, and closing of projects while driving trade-off / decision making to ensure detailed execution

  • Support content creation with R-PML and Head of PMO in preparation to cross-functional meetings, such as technical reviews, Portal Reviews, Governances, etc.

  • Serve as an integrator to the Research Product Teams while ensuring connectivity with (inputs to/from) research leadership, early clinical and platform functions

  • Drive risk management and effective communication plans, to include asset-wide impacts

  • Conduct critical path analysis (ambitious assumptions, hold cross-functional team members accountable); recognize and communicate inflection points w/ mitigation strategies

  • Ensure on time delivery; drive adherence to plan (time, budget and scope); challenge delays with ‘why not’ and propose mitigations; quickly raise changes to plan

  • Ability to lead cross functional teams and pivot quickly with changes in scientific or strategic assumptions based on internal / external data impacting the program

  • Meeting effectiveness, MS Teams/Smartsheet maintenance, proper and timely escalation of issues to Head of Discovery Biomarkers and PMO

Basic Qualifications:

Doctorate degree and 2 years of relevant precision medicine experience

OR

Master’s degree and 4 years of relevant precision medicine experience

OR

Bachelor’s degree and 6 years of relevant precision medicine experience

OR

Associate’s degree and 10 years of relevant precision medicine experience

OR

High school diploma / GED and 12 years of relevant precision medicine experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PhD and/or Master’s degree

  • Technical / scientific background with 6+ years industry and/or academic experience

  • Prior pharma / consulting and/or drug development experience, specifically in research & clinical development

  • Program and project management skills with experience in a healthcare-related environment, operationalizing central initiatives, including cross-functional strategic planning, development of integrated plans, monitoring and driving execution to plan

  • Emotional intelligence skills including influencing without authority and navigating within a matrix environment.

  • Experience using Project Management and AI/ML tools, methodologies, practices and infrastructure, as related to the Biopharmaceutical Industry

  • Highly experienced on MS Suite tools (PowerPoint, Excel, etc.) and project management software such as Smartsheet, Planisware, SharePoint, etc.

  • Finance and budget management experience

  • Business process and systems management, Project planning and management (PMP preferred)

  • Knowledge of SOPs, good clinical practices and regulatory requirements

  • Ability to lead, manage, and motivate others in a complex, multi-functional matrix environment

  • Exceptional leadership and team management skills

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
