Global Procurement Associate Director – Manufacturing Site Lead
What you will do
Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. We are seeking an individual who thrives in ambiguity and is capable of driving manufacturing operations with strategic vision and precision. In this vital role you will oversee the operations and management of manufacturing procurement at Amgen’s global manufacturing sites. This position will play a key role in ensuring the effective and efficient management of site-based manufacturing activities, maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements, and driving continuous improvement in manufacturing operations. Reporting to the Procurement Business Partner Lead for Internal & External Manufacturing, you will develop and execute the procurement strategies for internal manufacturing to address business needs while achieving best practice outcomes.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Lead Global Procurement’s manufacturing site procurement team, providing direction, mentorship, and support to achieve business goals through supplier sourcing and partnering; actively challenge work to deploy the most comprehensive and creative solutions; remove barriers for team to ensure its ability to implement
- Drive continuous improvement Procurement initiatives by identifying inefficiencies, recommending solutions, and implementing changes to enhance manufacturing performance, speed, and delivery.
- Champion a mult-year pipeline of savings and value plans across Amgen’s Manufacturing Sites that is in alignment with category and business strategies delivered against Finance’s annual budget plan
- Be a trusted advisor across Site Leadership teams – ability to grow and maintain influence of Sourcing Agenda
- Be a Procurement leader with strong financial competence, experienced with accountability to business partner with Site Finance executives
- Develop team capabilities and cultivate a culture of diversity and inclusion, with a commitment to continuous improvement in sourcing processes, tools and operating model; Develop goals and prioritize team's work among multiple initiatives; Managerial courage to provide performance feedback
- Support Site Procurement Leads to connect the dots and translate central functional programs into Site based deliverables and outcomes; Meanwhile ensure great visibility into site-level productivity plan/activities by category leads and procurement leadership
- Champion supplier relationship management for critical suppliers to the Sites
- Identify and mitigate supply risk while ensuring Procurement deliverables adhere to regulatory requirements (e.g., GLP, GMP, ISO) and implement quality control systems, including audits, inspections, and compliance-related activities.
- Monitor and report on Procurement performance metrics, making necessary adjustments to meet organizational goals and identifying opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.
- Evaluate and implement, through Procurement, process improvement, environmental sustainability, and automation initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and support long-term goals.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry standards and best practices, sharing innovative procurement solutions within the global manufacturing operations network.

Basic Qualifications:
Doctorate degree and 3 years of Procurement, Supply Chain, Manufacturing or Operations (preferably in a regulated industry) experience
Or
Master’s degree and 7 years of Procurement, Supply Chain, Manufacturing or Operations (preferably in a regulated industry) experience
Or
Bachelor’s degree and 9 years of Procurement, Supply Chain, Manufacturing or Operations (preferably in a regulated industry) experience
Or
Associate’s degree and 12 years of Procurement, Supply Chain, Manufacturing or Operations (preferably in a regulated industry) experience
Or
High school diploma / GED and 14 years of Procurement, Supply Chain, Manufacturing or Operations (preferably in a regulated industry) experience
In addition to meeting at least one of the above requirements, you must have a minimum of 3 years experience directly managing people and/or leadership experience leading teams, projects, programs, or directing the allocation or resources. Your managerial experience may run concurrently with the required technical experience referenced above
Preferred Qualifications:
- In-depth knowledge of procurement best practices across manufacturing, equipment, construction, facility services, and technologies.
- Familiarity with industry standards and regulations (e.g., GLP, GMP, ISO, OSHA).
- Ability to lead and manage teams in a procurement environment supporting manufacturing
- Strong analytical skills to monitor performance metrics, optimize procurement deliverables, and ensure compliance.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work effectively with global, virtual teams
- Ability to navigate ambiguity
- High degree of initiative and self-motivation
- Ability to manage multiple priorities successfully
- Team-oriented, with a focus on achieving team goals

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
