What you will do:
The Hematology Marketing Lead will have the full responsibility for the Marketing strategy and execution under the newly created Therapeutic Area (TA) for the newly created Hematology (Hematological malignancies) franchise in Amgen KK.
The Hematology Marketing Lead is accountable for the brands within the franchise and will lead the JBT (Japan Brand Team) for each brand of Hematology (ALL) and also the XFT (X-functional team) in Japan. In addition, the Hematology Marketing Lead will be accountable for contribution to the overall global strategy by providing insights and input from a Japan perspective (“Global with Local” contribution). This role will also be the main accountable and the main interface for all franchise brand related matters towards the GM, Oncology Business unit Director or other Japan Operation Committee (JOC) members.
As part of this role, it is expected the Hematology Marketing Lead to lead and developing the teams in the reporting lines, as well as nurturing and developing talents and ensuring strong succession planning within the TA franchise organization. As a key member of Amgen it is expected from the Hematology Marketing Lead to take a proactive approach to the shaping of the Oncology Business Unit business and culture, and be a champion for the Amgen 2030 vision and Amgen’s mission “To serve patients” among its team members and within the company.
In this position, the Hematology Marketing Lead is expected to have the opportunity to experience new challenges and be developed so that it can be one of the future candidates for next generation of Business Unit Directors, one of other JOC functions or even as a global leader.
Main Responsibilities
Reporting directly to the Business Unit Director of Oncology of Japan, this role is critical in overseeing all brand strategic and operational matters related to the Hematology Franchises in Japan. Your ability to collaborate across functions at local, regional, and global levels will be key.
Strategic Leadership: Develop and manage the brand strategy and ensure its successful execution to achieve or exceed business goals.
Financial Management: participate in the coordination and drive business and financial processes, including Strategy and Operations and P&L management for the Hematology franchise.
Team Leadership: As a key member of the Oncology Business Unit Team, exemplify Amgen’s values and mission. Lead and develop the team to ensure high-quality strategy and execution across all Hematology brands.
Talent Development: Mentor and develop top talent, set goals, conduct succession planning, and manage performance to align people’s contributions with business objectives.
Stakeholder Engagement: Represent Amgen to external stakeholders as a patient-centric partner of choice. Build long-term, productive relationships with customers and shape external strategies based on insights.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
The responsible tasks are as follows.
- Launch readiness plan: critical plan for a successful launch of new brand under the responsibility of the Product Manager. The Hematology Marketing Lead has accountability and ownership of the LRR for each brand within its franchise. On the process of planning and execution, Hematology Marketing Lead should lead JBT, XFT and other stakeholders for launch.
- Brand Plan: the Hematology Marketing Lead will manage the Product Managers to develop the annual Brand Plan Framework (BPF) and Plan of Action (PoA) incl. set and track financial targets per brand (sales top-line target and necessary investment), coordinate supply needs , KGI (Key Goal Index) / KPI (Key Performance Index) while ensuring a strong communication with the cross-functional team of MA (Medical Affairs) and DM (District Manager) in Sales.
- Marketing tactics/activities: The Hematology Marketing Lead will manage the Oncology Narrative Facilitator (ONF) lead and Senior Associate Marketer to operate marketing-initiated tactics and activities and to communicate with other cross-functional team of Sales dept. (NSD/National Sales Director, DM and MR) and MSL (Medical Science Liaison) in MA.
- Financial tracking: Hematology Marketing Lead has clear accountability for Sales Revenue, OPEX (Operational Expense) and related KPIs by month, quarter, year and long range with BUH and Finance BP (Business Partner)
-Supply demand tracking: Hematology Marketing Lead will manage the product demand proactively has the brands S&OP lead as to always ensure appropriate supply levels at all times and thus avoiding stock-out or write-offs.
- Customer network and management: Hematology Marketing Lead will build up the network and good relationship with key stakeholders related to the franchise such as Pulmonologists, Hematologists and pediatrician in hematology and or Oncologists and nurses, etc.
This position has responsibility to manage its subordinates to help them to excel in their performance while being an enabler and champion for diversity, inclusion and speaking-up culture. It is also expected that this role will take a proactive approach to development of the direct reports and associated teams and allowing the employees to take up challenges beyond their comfortable zone.
This position is a leader in the cross-functional team and global team to lead in-line brands and Early oncology pipeline projects through the following governance.
JCC (Japan Customer Council)
BT (Brand Team)
XFT (Cross-functional team)
IBT/BWG (Integrated Brand Team / Brand Working Group) with global.
LRR (Launch Readiness Review), if project in scope of launch readiness.
This position has an accountability to BUH, Finance, GM (General Manager) of Amgen KK and other Japan leadership team members, as well as GML (Global Marketing Lead) and teams with insightful, logical/scientific and emotional viewpoints.
It is required to proactively commit to entire project leadership in oncology BU and Amgen KK through cross-functional communications beyond its position and job frame.

Bachelor’s Degree and 5 years of directly related experience in marketing Hematology (Blood Cancer) in an international company OR
Master’s degree and 4 years of directly related experience in marketing Hematology (Blood Cancer) in an international company OR
Excellent English and Japanese communication skills in oral and written
