We are seeking a Senior Manager of Corporate Affairs to join our team in Tokyo. This position reports to the Director and Head of Corporate Affairs for Japan and will work in close collaboration with both local and global teams. The Senior Manager will play a key role in strengthening relationships with important external stakeholders, including patient support and advocacy organizations in Japan. The role also includes responsibility for developing and implementing communications and stakeholder engagement strategies to support Amgen K.K.’s objectives.
Job Responsibilities:
Contribute to strengthening Amgen K.K.’s reputation through clear and authentic storytelling that resonates with key audiences across Japan.
Execute integrated communications strategies—across media, emerging media, social and digital media—to support corporate priorities, therapeutic areas, and key brand milestones and opportunities.
Develop and maintain respectful, professional relationships with key external stakeholders, including media, digital influencers, patient advocacy groups and key opinion leaders.
Develop and lead an advocacy engagement strategy that fosters trusted relationships with patient advocacy groups, to amplify the patient voice and support improved access to care.
Bring the voice of patients into Amgen's capabilities, including Clinical Trial Design, Corporate Affairs, Policy, and Value and Access.
Provide disease and patient education communications in partnership with the Brand team including marketing, Medical and Value and Access functions.
Deliver impactful product communications around launches of new medicines and expanded indications.
Support internal communication efforts to promote understanding of company direction and foster team alignment.
Collaborate with cross-functional partners, including Commercial, Government Affairs, Medical, Legal, Regulatory, to deliver communication activities that highlight Amgen’s commitment to innovation and contribution to Japanese society.
Coordinate best practices and learnings with affiliate colleagues in JAPAC and the Global Corporate Affairs team.
Oversee vendors, when appropriate, ensuring high-quality execution, compliance, and budget discipline.
Basic Qualifications
Master’s degree and 3 years of Communications and/or Advocacy and/or Policy and/or Marketing and/or Medical experience
Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of Communications and/or Advocacy and/or Policy and/or Marketing and/or Medical experience
Preferred Qualifications
Fluent in Japanese and English.
Proven experience in corporate communications, public affairs, or public relations or an adjacent field, ideally within healthcare, pharmaceuticals, or biotechnology.
Experience in other areas of pharmaceutical industry such as marketing or medical would be an important plus.
Strong ability to understand business priorities and contribute to effective, strategic communication plans.
Understanding and appreciation of the Japanese culture, landscape, and stakeholder expectations and communication approaches & channel appropriateness.
Demonstrated interest in external engagement, and ability to use various media platforms appropriately.
Skilled at translating complex topics into compelling, compliant storytelling that aligns with commercial and corporate goals.
Ability to productively navigate a challenging and dynamic environment, and deal with rapidly changing priorities.
Implements tactics effectively, on time, and within budget.
Establishes and maintains effective, collaborative work relationships both internally and externally.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively across teams; commitment to delivering high-quality results.
