Amgen's Commercial Attribute Sciences group within Process Development is seeking a Senior Scientist based at our Thousand Oaks, California site. The Senior Scientist will serve as an analytical subject matter expert supporting general compendial methods across the global Amgen network. This individual will be a part of an agile team that interfaces with cross-functional business partners including Attribute Sciences Team Leads, Drug Substance Process Development, Drug Product Process Development, Quality Control, Manufacturing, Product Quality and other key functions within Amgen Operations.
Key Responsibilities include:
Provide global cross-functional leadership and technical support for general/compendial methods and testing
Interact and collaborate with other functional areas in a matrix environment as an analytical subject matter expert
Support analytical method lifecycle management, including testing to support method development, method remediation, method qualification and method implementation in new testing sites
Generate and critically evaluate analytical data in support of investigations and regulatory submissions
Support the assessment of pharmacopeia updates to ensure the compliance of analytical methods
Keep current in the analytical development field and support the evaluation and implementation of new testing technologies

Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of Scientific experience OR
Master’s degree and 3 years of Scientific experience OR
Doctorate degree PhD OR PharmD OR MD [and relevant post-doc where applicable]
Preferred Qualifications:
Hands-on experience in various analytical technologies including UV for protein concentration, SoloVPE, pH, osmolality, turbidity, color analysis, KF titration, etc.
Experience in troubleshooting and investigation methodologies for problem solving
Detail-oriented approach with excellent written and oral communication for the timely documentation, presentation, and discussion of results in a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary, team-based environment
Ability to establish effective and respectful relationships with cross-functional business partners
Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritize and manage tasks independently to meet deliverables
Action-oriented, eager to learn, and supports new ideas and initiatives

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
