In this vital role you will develop high throughput automation solutions to advance our biologics drug product development.
Amgen is seeking an innovative Scientist with a passion for automation and robotics. The candidate will work closely with the team responsible for leveraging automation within drug product development to drive speed and efficiency.
Key responsibilities will include:
Plan and execute studies to characterize and enable implementation of new technologies that advance state-of-the-art automation, high throughput screening, and analytical capabilities, leveraging strong critical thinking skills.
Plan and execute studies to characterize drug product formulations and processes.
Effectively communicate and collaborate with the colleagues inside the automation team to coordinate, organize, and execute studies.
Evaluate product attributes through analytical testing, e.g. measurement of pH, conductivity, osmolality, protein concentration, HPLC/UPLC, and subvisible and visible particle characterization.
Author/review technical documents, such as technical presentations, protocols, and reports.

Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree and 4 years of Scientific experience OR
Master’s degree and 2 years of Scientific experience OR
Doctorate degree
Preferred Qualifications:
Strong knowledge of pharmaceutical/biotechnology process development, protein handling and processing, formulation development, and drug product unit operations (e.g., UF/DF, filling, lyophilization).
Hands-on experience in executing protein characterization techniques (e.g., HPLC/UPLC, concentration measurement, pH, viscosity).
Familiarity with high throughput technologies and automation platforms/instrumentation.
Familiarity with programming liquid handlers and coding in modern programming languages (Python/R).
Strong skills in communication, multi-tasking, and collaboration in a cross-functional team environment.
Familiarity with data post-processing, visualization, structured data, cloud databases, and dashboarding.

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
