Oncology Sales Training Manager – OBU Emerald Team (Field-Based)

Amgen is seeking a field-based Oncology Sales Training Manager to lead sales training initiatives for the Emerald Team within our Oncology Business Unit (OBU). This individual will play a critical role in onboarding, upskilling, and coaching sales representatives focused on thoracic oncology

This role reports to the National Oncology Sales Training Manager and collaborates closely with Regional Sales Directors (RSDs), District Managers (DMs), brand teams, and other cross-functional partners.

Key Responsibilities

  • Field Training & Development

  • Lead onboarding (Phases 1–2) and ongoing training for new and tenured sales reps.

  • Design and deliver training that enhances clinical knowledge, selling skills, and business acumen.

  • Collaborate with RSDs and DMs to identify capability gaps and build targeted coaching and training plans.

Content Development & Execution

  • Translate national brand strategies into effective training curricula and workshops.

  • Partner with brand teams to create, facilitate, and manage training content for national and regional meetings.

  • Prepare and lead training classes and field workshops, ensuring alignment with sales objectives.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Serve as a bridge between the field and HQ, ensuring alignment with Marketing, Legal, Regulatory, and Medical teams.

  • Facilitate approval of training content through the legal and reulatory review process and maintain compliance standards.

  • Collaborate with other Field Training Managers and internal teams to share best practices and align training approaches.

Performance Support

  • Provide actionable feedback on learner progress and performance to sales leaders.

  • Manage and support District Sales Trainer (DST) contributions and guest trainers.

  • Track effectiveness of training initiatives using metrics and assessments.

What We’re Looking For

  • Strong communicator and facilitator with experience in adult learning and coaching.

  • Background in oncology sales or sales training is preferred.

  • Proven ability to translate strategic goals into impactful training experiences.

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, matrixed environment with cross-functional teams.

Basic Qualifications:

Doctorate degree

OR

Master's degree and 2 years of sales/marketing/training experience

OR

Bachelor's Degree and 4 years of sales/marketing/training experience

OR

Associate's Degree and 10 years of sales/marketing/training experience

Or

High school diploma / GED and 12 years of sales/marketing/training experience

Preferred Qualifications:

•            3+ years of training, sales and/or marketing experience within pharmaceutical, biotech, healthcare, or medical device industries.

•            3+ years working closely with sales, marketing, compliance, healthcare company or related industry experience

•            Experience defining training goals and objectives with key internal clients,

•            Strong facilitation skills using multiple mediums

•            Experience working with sales team, regulatory, legal, compliance, vendor management as client or functional unit lead

•            Experience in engaging with multiple partners to deliver results for multiple priorities

•            Strong clinical competence to model and shape curriculum and staff

•            Demonstrated self-starter, ability to work under limited supervision and coordinate multiple projects and teams in a detail-oriented environment

•            Strong business acumen using Veeva data systems

•            Strong Communication skills (Coaching and selling skills)

•            Understanding of Access & Reimbursement environment

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
