EH&S Manager
What you will do
Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. In this vital role you will lead safety and health programs at our Thousand Oaks location. Primary responsibilities include:
- Be responsible for the compliance and continuous improvement of site safety programs including Industrial Hygiene with a focus on biological safety, chemical safety, and potent compounds.
- Providing strategic leadership and expert advice for technical chemical exposure evaluations, covering Antibody Drug Conjugates (ADCs), potent compounds, and quantitative assessments requiring active sampling.
- Function as the site Biological Safety Officer.
- Provide EH&S client representative support to Research and Development, Product Development, and clinical manufacturing staff.
- Partnering with clients to implement best practices and ensure compliance with pertinent regulations, policies, and standards.
- Coaching and mentoring of EH&S industrial hygiene staff to enable support of industrial hygiene assessments.
- Interpreting environmental health and safety regulations and creating processes to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local requirements.
- Review of industrial hygiene and biological safety records for completeness and compliance.
- Facilitation of training.
- Preparing and submitting required internal and external regulatory reports.
- Interfacing with regulatory agency representatives during on-site inspections and to address program needs.
- Serve as an EH&S representative by promoting safety culture, conducting inspections, assessing potential EH&S impacts, investigating incidents, and evaluating risks of routine and non-routine activities.
- Identifying program improvement opportunities by utilizing data analytics and developing action plans to drive continuous improvements.
- Partnering with all levels of internal client and site/corporate EH&S organizations.
- Participating in emergency response activities.
The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills and have a strong understanding of safety principles and a proven history in maturing programs and processes. The position requires the ability to collaborate cross functionally and to influence management across many functions.
What we expect of you

Basic Qualifications:
- High school diploma / GED and 10 years of experience developing and supporting EH&S programs; OR
- Associate’s degree and 8 years of experience developing and supporting EH&S programs; Or
- Bachelor’s degree and 4 years of experience developing and supporting EH&S programs; Or
- Master’s degree and 2 years of experience developing and supporting EH&S programs; Or
- Doctorate degree
Preferred Qualifications:
- 5 – 10 years of experience in the pharmaceutical/biotech industry leading biological safety and industrial hygiene programs
- Proficient in conducting risk assessments and developing sampling strategies.
- Skilled in program development and project management.
- Experience interfacing with regulatory agency and auditing representatives during on-site inspections.
- Current qualification as a Hazardous Material Technician under the Federal HAZWOPER standard.
- Professional qualification preferred (e.g., Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), Registered Biological Safety Professional (RBP), Certified Biological Safety Professional (CBSP)).

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
