What you will do
Responsibilities
Reporting to the Finance Manager, the role is responsible for supporting the Finance and accounting work for South East Asia (SEA) (including Hong Kong) as well as executing the controls and compliance activities of the SEA region.
In this capacity, the Finance Senior Associate (SEA) will perform in the following areas for all SEA markets:
i) Financial accounting, tax compliance, and audit requirements
Act as accounting liaison to coordinate with CPA firms, regional share service team, and local third-party bookkeeping team. Ensure monthly closing results and financial statements/tax reports are in line with the requirements
Supports statutory and financial reporting of the SEA markets. This includes but is not limited to, compliance filing, local statutory accounting and tax filing, government surveys, etc.
Ensures financial compliance aligned to both local and corporate policies/accounting standards
Prepares and monitors monthly closing, including raising closing entries, reviewing entries raised by service providers, analyzing trial balance and balance sheet to understand and explain major variances, etc., to ensure financial reporting accuracy and completeness
Exercises proper controls & governance are maintained across the markets
Conducts internal control verification of finance, including annual IICC verification, finance review of payments, and BTA reconciliation, among others.
Preparation or review of financial schedules such as footnote disclosures, close reporting deliverables, and providing support for other ad hoc schedules, as needed
Participates in Balance Sheet Reviews for each SEA market. Summarizes and coordinates areas of improvement and works with respective country teams to action the recommendations.
Assists with external audits for the SEA markets in conjunction with the Finance Manager and the local country finance manager.
ii) Treasury, P2P, and Others
Interact and work cross-functionally with a wide range of internal business partners and provide accounting support and guidance as required (local business teams, P2P, GSS, and Tax)
Take part in local and regional projects such as business systems implementations and process improvements
Supports the annual IICC testing in the role of Finance Process tester
Ensure implementation and adherence to corporate and local guidelines and policies
Ensure all company data is collected, derived, and consolidated from all departments in order to produce reliable reporting
Drives SEA process improvement, simplification, and automation in any F&A areas

What we expect of you
Basic Qualifications
Degree in Accounting, CPA, ACCA, or equivalent accounting qualification.
Experience of more than 3 years working in similar position/s in an international environment. Experience in a regional role and having worked in an international matrix organization with a Headquarters in the US is valuable.
Working knowledge of key IS systems (including demonstrated capability in SAP, Excel, and PowerPoint).
Fluency in English, both in written and oral communication, is a must
Preferred Qualifications
Big 4 audit experience preferred.
Strong background across all areas of finance (FP&A, controllership, accounting, tax, treasury).
Biological pharmaceutical industry knowledge is preferred but not a must.
Demonstrate a willing-to-learn attitude and excellent technical knowledge of accountancy, relevant laws, local taxes, and accounting systems/processes.
