What you will do

In this vital role you will a key contributor to the company’s global digital transformation initiatives, delivering secure, compliant, and user-friendly digital solutions. As part of the Global Medical Technology – Medical Information team, you will play a critical role in ensuring quality, compliance, and performance across Amgen’s Medical Information platforms.

In this role, you will serve as Platform Developer II (Salesforce) responsible for implementing, configuring, and enhancing Salesforce applications to support Amgen’s global Medical Information initiatives. You will design, develop, and maintain solutions using Salesforce Lightning, Apex, and Visualforce, while applying Salesforce standard processes in a GxP-regulated environment.

You will work closely with multi-functional teams to manage configurations, support integrations, and ensure role-based access controls are properly applied across regions. You will also contribute to testing activities and support deployment processes to deliver high-quality solutions that align with Amgen’s business goals and compliance standards.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement Salesforce Lightning components using LWC and Aura frameworks to enhance platform functionality and user experience.
  • Configure roles, profiles, permission sets, and region-wise security and sharing settings to ensure appropriate access control across user groups.
  • Create and customize standard and custom objects, page layouts, validation rules, record types, and formula fields to meet business requirements.
  • Develop and maintain Apex classes, triggers, Visualforce pages, and custom controllers as needed.
  • Design and implement integrations between Salesforce and external/internal systems using REST/SOAP APIs and middleware.
  • Use Copado to manage source control, deployments, pipeline automation, and environment management in support of release processes
  • Apply Salesforce development standard processes to ensure code reusability, maintainability, and compliance with performance and scalability standards.
  • Collaborate with quality and validation teams to develop test scripts and implement functional and system testing in regulated environments.
  • Fix and resolve development or configuration issues during QA, UAT, and production support cycles.
  • Participated in design reviews, sprint planning, and code reviews, contributing to Agile/Scrum ceremonies and delivery cycles.
  • Maintain documentation including technical design, solution architecture, and release notes for enhancements and projects.
  • Ensure all development work adheres to GxP, CSV, and compliance requirements, including documentation traceability and audit readiness.
  • Collaborate with business analysts, QA, validation, and infrastructure teams to deliver reliable and compliant Salesforce solutions.
  • Stay up to date with Salesforce platform releases, new features, and emerging technologies to drive innovation and platform optimization.

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree and 0 to 3 years of Computer Science, IT or related field experience OR

Diploma and 4 to 7 years of Computer Science, IT or related field experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • BS/MS in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related technical field.
  • 4+ years of experience in Salesforce development including Lightning Components, Apex, Visualforce, and platform configuration.
  • Hands-on experience with Salesforce security models, role hierarchy, sharing rules, and field-level access.
  • Good understanding of Salesforce object model, workflows, validation rules, and triggers.
  • Experience with Salesforce integrations using RESTful and SOAP web services.
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices, CI/CD tools, and version control systems like Git.
  • Demonstrable experience working with Copado for deployment automation, CI/CD pipeline configuration, and release management.
  • Demonstrable ability to work in regulated (GxP/CSV) environments with strong documentation practices.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to solve issues across multiple environments.
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum teams supporting enterprise applications.
  • Salesforce platform certifications are a strong plus.

Must-Have Skills:

  • Proficient in developing custom solutions using Salesforce Lightning Components (Aura and LWC), Apex classes, Visualforce pages, and Apex triggers, including batch classes and schedulers with exception handling.
  • Proficient in configuring standard/custom objects, fields, page layouts, validation rules, roles, profiles, permission sets, and region-specific sharing and access models.
  • Strong in integrating Salesforce with internal and external systems using REST and SOAP APIs; familiarity with middleware for system interoperability.
  • Familiarity with DevOps tools, version control systems (e.g., Git), and CI/CD pipelines beyond Copado, contributing to efficient and traceable deployments.
  • Strong analytical approach with the ability to solve platform issues, optimize performance, and explore emerging Salesforce features for continuous improvement.

Good-to-Have Skills:

  • Skilled in using Copado for deployment automation, CI/CD pipeline configuration, source control management, and environment management across multiple sandboxes.
  • Experience participating in Agile/Scrum teams, with knowledge of sprint planning, retrospectives, and iterative development workflows.
  • Deep understanding of Salesforce object model, workflows, formula fields, and Apex triggers customizing and extend platform functionality.
  • Exposure to pharmaceutical, biotech, or healthcare industries with an understanding of compliance and patient safety requirements.
  • Proficient in contributing to and reviewing requirements specifications (RS), design specifications (DS), RTMs, and validation summary reports.
  • Working knowledge of GxP and Computer System Validation (CSV) standards, with experience in maintaining traceability, test evidence, validation documentation, and version control in regulated environments.

Professional Certifications (preferred):

  • Salesforce Platform Developer I (required).
  • Salesforce Platform Developer II (optional).
  • Salesforce Administrator Certification (plus).
  • Certified Scrum Developer or SAFe Agile (optional).
  • Certified CSV or Validation Professional (optional).
