Environment, Health, Safety and Sustainability Manager (EHSS)

In this vital role you will drive world class Environment, Health, Safety and Sustainability (EHSS) performance in a diverse site environment. The candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing the site EHS Management System and working with clients to advance safety culture and manage EHSS risks.
Develops, implements and manages site EHSS Management Systems to management of risk, compliance and safety.
Develops training awareness program to increase staff awareness and knowledge of and compliance with applicable policies and regulations.
EHSS representative for specified client group and helps ensure ongoing process changes conform to environment, health and safety regulations and Amgen requirements.
Makes recommendations to site EHSS Lead regarding potential impacts on environmental, health, and safety and develops mitigation plan.
Investigate and implement continuous improvement processes required to improve safety in manufacturing operations.
Partners with clients to implement safety and environmental policies, practices, and requirements identified as part of design reviews or risk assessments.
Provides information and communication materials to various worksites to assist with training, safety meetings, informational campaigns, initiatives.

Reports to site EHSS Director
May participate in EHSS Global Network Teams
Frequently interacts with EHSS and Function Leadership
What we expect of you

Basic Qualifications:
High school diploma / GED and 10 years of EHS experience OR
Associate’s degree and 8 years of EHS experience OR
Bachelor’s degree and 4 years of EHS experience OR
Master’s degree and 2 years of EHS experience OR
Doctorate degree
Preferred Qualifications:
Degree in safety, industrial hygiene, chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, chemistry, biology or other life science areas.
7 + years of experience in developing and implementing EHSS management systems or project management, risk management programs in a biotech/pharma or related industry.
Strong understanding of requirements of EHS Management Systems in Chemical or Biological manufacturing and laboratory operations.
Strong organizational skills, verbal & written communication skills, ability to communicate within departments, with scientists, engineers, and managers.
Applied knowledge and understanding of EHS management systems, principles and practices, regulatory standards, and requirements in context of business activities,
Ability to take ownership for constructing site EHS Management Systems including written programs, training, audit system at one time with an emphasis on execution quality and organization

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
