WHAT YOU WILL DO

The Senior Software Engineer role at Amgen Research Copenhagen (ARC) will focus on supporting and modernizing informatics processes tied to the DNA Encoded Library (DEL) drug discovery workflow, while delivering hands-on technical solutions in collaboration with drug discovery research and technology teams. Working across teams in Europe and North America, the successful candidate will act as a bridge between scientific research needs and technical execution, while working within Amgen’s standardized software ecosystem.
Responsibilities:
Enable modernization of DEL informatics platform to address automation, scalability, data complexity, information security and overall usability.
Enable harmonized and streamlined end-to-end informatics processes for DEL workflow including but not limited to data registration, data analysis, materials management, assay requests, and analytics.
Gather knowledge on existing systems and translate it into documentation and actionable system improvements.
Maintain, enhance, and support existing software systems and codebases, including resolving bugs and implementing small-scale enhancements independently.
Contribute to restructuring and optimization of underlying databases.
Drive data automation and reporting processes, including integration with scientific data platforms.
Engage with research scientists to identify pain points and design user-friendly, research-centric solutions.
Contribute to the development and scaling of AI/ML-enabled solutions.
WHAT WE EXPECT OF YOU

Basic Qualifications:
Doctorate degree
Or
Master’s degree and 2+ years of Information Systems experience
Or
Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of Information Systems experience
Or
Associate’s degree and 10 years of Information Systems experience
Or
High school diploma / GED and 12 years of Information Systems experience
Preferred Qualifications and Experience:
BS/MS in Software Development, Computer Science, Engineering, Life Sciences, Bioinformatics, Cheminformatics, or related field
2+ years of experience in implementing and supporting software solutions, experience from biopharma scientific software platforms is a plus
Proficiency in Python andJavaScript (ReactJS).
Experience with SQL and relational databases
Hands-on experience with cheminformatics toolkit, e.g.RDKit, OEChem or Daylight, and chemistry database cartridge, e.g.BIOVIA, RDKit or JChem.
Working experience with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines
Experience with version control systems like Git
Strong understanding of software development methodologies, mainly Agile and Scrum
Strong understanding of cloud platforms (e.g. AWS) and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)
Familiarity with data analytics and scientific computing platforms
Skills:
Strong problem solving and analytical skills
High learning agility with ability to rapidly gain fluency in new technologies and workflows
Collaborative spirit and strong communication skills to bridge technical and scientific domains
Ability to translate research needs into technical solutions and iterate based on feedback
