We are seeking a skilled Chemist who can synthesize many compounds in parallel.

This is a temporary 12-month position for the coverage of parental leave.

As a member of the Amgen Research Copenhagen (ARC) Parallel Chemistry group, you will be part of Amgen’s drug discovery teams taking projects from hit discovery through lead optimization to candidate selection.

The employee will report to Principal Scientist, Mathilde Daugaard.

Specifically, tasks will include:

  • Synthesis of multiple small molecules in parallel on 2 micromole scale both using solid-phase organic synthesis (SPOS) and parallel solution-phase techniques
  • Record, interpret and communicate analytical data, e.g. HPLC/MS, UV, and CLND
  • Help optimize workflow to deliver more compounds faster as a group
  • Independently optimize reaction conditions presently used and develop new reactions for a parallel setup
  • Individual structuring and planning of work assignments
  • Communicate and collaborate actively with other scientists, both chemists and biologists, in English, to reach company goals

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s degree or equivalent in organic chemistry, chemistry or a related field
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in organic chemistry, chemistry or a related field and 1-2 years of laboratory experience from either academia or industry
  • Strong experience within theoretical and experimental organic chemistry

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Structured and diligent in their work
  • Knowledgeable and detailed in following lab protocols
  • Excellent laboratory skills and a keen interest in practical laboratory work
  • Outstanding collaborative skills, both within chemistry and biology
  • Proficient English communication skills
