Role: Associate Scientist – Predictive Biology (14 Month Contract)
Reports to: Senior Principal Scientist, Predictive Biology
Location: Burnaby, BC
What you will do
Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. In this vital role you will join the Predictive Biology Team at our Amgen British Columbia site to support the discovery of novel therapeutics to treat human disease. We are looking for a talented and highly motivated individual who thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment to join our team in a laboratory-based role. As a key member of this team, you will:
- Isolate and enrich primary immune cells from human and rodent tissue
- Develop, optimize and execute assays including immune cell stimulation and expansion
- Deep characterization through multi-color flow cytometry and related techniques
- Contribute to the development and fine tuning of new and established protocols and methods to enhance performance and improve workflows
- Effectively communicate to cross-functional collaborators
Well-suited applicant will have broad laboratory training, deep scientific curiosity and a positive approach to working in a team-based research environment. This individual will also have a track record of creative problem-solving and enthusiasm for tackling difficult research challenges.

Basic Qualifications:
BS/MS degree
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Cell/Molecular Biology, Immunology, Biochemistry or a related discipline and 2 years+ of scientific laboratory experience.
- Expertise with aseptic cell culture techniques including the isolation and culture of primary immune cells required
- Strong foundational understanding of immunology and cellular biology
- Experience with performing immunology assays including ELISA, ELISpots and multi-color flow cytometry.
- Experience in tissue processing protocols and sample tracking/management
- Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
- Desire to be a team player in a dynamic, cross-functional environment.
- Demonstrated scientific analysis and problem-solving skills.
- Experience working with primary human tissue preferred.

The salary range for this position in Canada is $84,000 - $115,000 CAD
