Strategic Planning & Operations Director - Global Value & Access

What you will do

Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. In this vital role the Director, Strategic Planning & Operations (SPO) for Amgen’s Global Value & Access (GV&A) organization will be responsible for ensuring the effective and seamless operation of the global GV&A function, while leading select strategic initiatives that are critical to its evolution and impact.

The SPO will report directly to the General Medicine IAS TA Head & Strategic Projects Lead, with a dotted-line to the VP & Head of Global Value & Access, and will work in close collaboration with the GV&A Leadership Team (LT), regional and functional partners, and cross-enterprise collaborators.

This role serves as a strategic partner and integrator — supporting the operational rhythm of the GV&A organization, driving strategic planning, resource allocation, and governance, and ensuring organizational priorities are clearly aligned and delivered. The SPO will provide direct operational support to the GV&A LT, lead key governance processes, and facilitate effective communication and collaboration across teams and functions.

In addition to these core SPO responsibilities, the Director will lead and oversee strategic cross-functional projects designed to advance GV&A’s long-term capabilities and performance — including initiatives related to theadoption of AI tools and approaches, evolution of GV&A’s operating model and book of work, support for global price governance forums and policy-shaping efforts across markets.

This position provides an outstanding opportunity to connect with senior Value & Access leaders globally, gain deep insight into Amgen’s access strategies and market environments, and directly chip in to shaping how Amgen delivers patient access and value around the world.

Strategic Planning and Operations Support

  • Provide strategic and operational leadership for GV&A, ensuring effective planning, prioritization, and coordination across teams and functions.
  • Partner closely with the VP & Head of GV&A and the GV&A Leadership Team (LT) to support decision-making, execution, and alignment on global initiatives.
  • Develop and lead key presentations, reports, and communications for governance meetings, leadership forums, and strategic planning sessions.
  • Coordinate goal-setting, resource optimization, and operating model development efforts.
  • Lead and coordinate GV&A’s annual budget preparation process, ensuring alignment between strategic priorities, resource allocation, and financial targets.
  • Handle the GV&A planning calendar and key events (e.g., LT meetings, ASLT sessions, Town Halls).
  • Support the development and execution of GV&A’s internal communications strategy, ensuring clear messaging and visibility across the function.

Leadership of Strategic Projects

  • Lead cross-functional and cross-regional strategic projects that advance GV&A’s evolution and long-term strategy.
  • Drive the adoption and integration of AI tools and capabilities to enhance GV&A’s efficiency, analytics, and strategic decision-making.
  • Support global price governance forums, ensuring consistency and rigor in price decision making.
  • Helps drive global policy-shaping activities, connecting insights and initiatives across countries to strengthen alignment and external influence.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to enhance GV&A’s operational model, agility, and impact through innovation and standard methodologies.
