Senior Manager, Global Emergency Management

What you will do

Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. In this vital role you will work with internal / external collaborators and on key deliverables needed for the success of the Global Emergency Management program. They will ensure that the GEM efforts continue to support the foundation of the Amgen Emergency Management program.

These key deliverables include identifying Emergency Management administrative and response personnel, communicating program features and benefits, developing training materials, and ensuring a global network is maintained that will provide key insights and standard methodologies for all Amgen locations.

Responsibilities:

GEM Program Management

  • Ensure the success of the GEM program
  • Ensure the collaboration and alignment with key programs / groups
  • Support the growth and maintenance of the GEM program
  • Establish a global network to connect all sites through the GEM program
  • Modify and provide an updated Amgen global security standard for Active Assailant training where applicable

LMS Course Management

  • Develop and create GEM courses in the Learning Management System (LMS)
  • Identify key Emergency Management contacts / support staff globally
  • Establish assignment vehicles, tracking and reporting on completions

GEM Plan Management

  • Update latest templates to meet latest standards and expectations
  • Emergency Management Plans (EMP)
  • Emergency Response Plans (ERP)
  • Ensure alignment with key business partners
  • Communicate plan and practice changes to stakeholders
  • Maintain latest versions of plans in controlled repository

GEM SharePoint Management

  • Create a GEM SharePoint site for all global stakeholders for their immediate reference
  • Create folder structure for files and plans
  • Ensure appropriate access permissions are assigned and managed (as needed)
  • Develop and include training videos
  • Develop and include reference sheets and instructions (as needed)

GEM Location Emergency Management (EM) contact relationships

  • Liaison with respective Business Resilience counterparts for Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery to ensure alignment with programs
  • Maintain updated information and contact lists
  • Provide guidelines for necessary emergency supplies at respective Amgen locations
  • At headquarters, provide guidance for Emergency Management staff and support Incident Management Team (IMT) Incident Commander during incidents, when called upon to do so

Global Security Operations Center (GSOC) Incident Assessment

  • Ensure coordination with the GSOC and awareness of real-time information on various situations (e.g., earthquakes, terrorist attacks, brushfires, etc.)
  • Provide guidance and counsel on assessment processes with the goal of refinement, streamlining and effectiveness
  • Support Amgen sites on Emergency impact events
  • Coordinate with Emergency Management Teams (EMT’s) when business impacts occur

GEM Training Development

  • Maintain records on all GEM trainings (Presentations, LMS, training records)
  • Gain feedback on training effectiveness
  • Ensure longevity plan in place to train new collaborators

GEM Strategy Development

  • Assess existing stakeholders, training, materials, and plans requiring updates or modification
  • Develop change management and communications plans as necessary
  • Implement change management and communications plans
  • Assess effectiveness of GEM program on an ongoing basis

What we expect of you

Basic Qualifications:

Doctorate Degree & 2 years of related emergency management experience

Or

Master’s Degree & 4 years of related emergency management experience

Or

Bachelor’s degree & 6 years of related experience

Or

Associate’s degree & 10 years of related experience

Or

High School diploma / GED & 12 years of related experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Track record in assignment / project / program management
  • Experience in the field of emergency response and preparedness
  • Experience as field team leader, incident commander, Emergency Operations Center (EOC) Director during live (non-training) incidents
  • Knowledge and experience with CERT, USAR, ICS, FEMA, and other certification programs
  • Certifications in FEMA IS 100, 200, 700, and 800
  • Experience in designing and conducting emergency evacuations, triage, and accountability
  • Demonstrated ability to remain calm in stressful / dynamic environments
  • Demonstrated leadership of a team, taskforce, specialized unit, or cross-functional group
  • Experience in launching new / updated programs (documentation, trainings, etc.)
  • Ability to independently set priorities and meet deadlines in fast-paced environment
  • Experience with Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, conferencing, and PDF
  • Successful background with instructor led and virtual trainings
  • Ability to effectively present to internal team, internal / external partners, and executives
  • Confirmed role and trusted reputation in security / confidential / classified environments
  • Internal daily drive to maintain the overall mission while executing on priority task items
  • Ability to think outside the box on solutions and reassess approaches with unforeseen obstacles
  • Proven ability to work with different functional groups, adapt to personalities, and learning perspectives

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
