R&D Portfolio Forecasting and Analysis Manager

What you will do

In this vital role you will partner with Portfolio Resource Forecasting Leads to provide Development Teams and Functional Management with accurate resource demand forecasts and supply analyses that enable effective operational planning and informed decision-making.

You will contribute to the maintenance and evolution of R&D resource forecasting methodologies and technology, facilitate updates to functional resource algorithms, and engage in process improvement efforts. This role offers an opportunity to join a high-performing team dedicated to enabling R&D excellence through data-driven forecasting and analysis.

Responsibilities

Forecasting Analysis

  • Engage in planning and delivery of periodic resource forecasts and analyses (standard reviews and ad hoc scenarios), collaborating with stakeholders across Functional Leadership, Finance, and Portfolio teams to enable informed operational planning.

  • Partner with project teams and functional leaders to interpret portfolio changes, assess resource demand implications, and develop rationale for anticipated resourcing questions.

Demand Algorithm Management

  • Coordinate stakeholder engagement to align on resource algorithm assumptions, ensuring forecasting inputs reflect current operational realities.

  • Facilitate regular reviews of resource forecasting algorithms and portfolio planning assumptions with functional leads, contributing recommendations based on data insights and planning scenarios.

  • Assess and communicate the impact of proposed process or methodology changes, contributing to the governance of algorithm updates and promoting consistency across functions.

Stakeholder Engagement & Strategic Engagement

  • Build trusted collaborations and key stakeholders by communicating, seeking advice, and delivering clear, context-rich analyses and engaging in ongoing dialogue to inform functional decision-making.

  • Translate portfolio trends and patterns into actionable insights to guide functional planning, helping teams proactively prepare for shifts in demand.

  • Contribute to the development of cases for resourcing strategies by providing robust forecasting data and articulating operational impacts to support functional leadership alignment.

Process Improvement & Information Management

  • Lead or support process enhancement efforts aimed at increasing forecast accuracy, operational efficiency, and system usability across planning tools and methodologies.

  • Contribute to the design and implementation of forecasting tools, reporting dashboards, and data management approaches that enable scalability and visibility.

  • Maintain high standards in data quality and reporting through systematic monitoring, documentation, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Project Work & Adaptability

  • Manage or contribute to special projects and ad hoc initiatives, bringing a structured, analytical perspective to emerging business needs in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

What we expect of you

Basic Qualifications:

  • Doctorate degree OR

  • Master’s degree and 2 years of equivalent experience OR

  • Bachelor’s degree and 4 years of equivalent experience OR

  • Associate degree and 8 years of equivalent experience OR

  • High School diploma/GED and 10 years of equivalent experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • BA/BS/BSc in the sciences or in management sciences (decision analysis, operations research, statistics, strategic planning), finance, economics, basic sciences, engineering or other majors with strong analytical focus

  • 5 years work experience in life sciences or medically related field, including 4+ years of biopharmaceutical clinical product development

  • Strong knowledge of planning, forecasting, data analysis

  • Thorough clinical trials operations knowledge, drug development lifecycle, and portfolio management processes

  • Experience with resourcing applications (Planisware Preferable)

  • Strong computer and system operation skills (Excel, Access, Spotfire, Tableau, PowerBI)

  • Thorough understanding of financial management, budget process and project valuation metrics

  • Strong qualitative and quantitative analytical skills

  • Strong oral and written presentation skills with ability to explain complex concepts clearly to a variety of audiences

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
