What you will do

We are seeking a seasoned Enterprise Programs Director to lead the successful execution of complex, multi-year strategic programs that drive transformation across Amgen’s global enterprise. This individual will serve as a central figure in ensuring the on-time delivery of large-scale, cross-functional initiatives, managing transformation budgets, and delivering consolidated program dashboards to executive stakeholders. The ideal candidate brings extensive experience running large, transformational programs that involve solving complex problems, managing intricate stakeholder relationships, and navigating highly complex program interactions.

Responsible for:

  • Serve as the principal leader for enterprise-scale programs, overseeing multiple interdependent projects across business and technology domains.
  • Ensure on-time delivery of milestones by proactively managing risks, issues, and dependencies across global workstreams.
  • Drive strong program governance and maintain rigorous program discipline using structured methodologies.
  • Solve highly complex problems by bringing structured thinking, creative approaches, and cross-functional collaboration to challenges that span the enterprise.
  • Manage complex stakeholder relationships across senior executives, global functions, regional operations, and external partners to ensure alignment and successful outcomes.
  • Navigate highly complex interactions within and across programs to ensure integration, prioritization, and optimization of enterprise resources.
  • Lead cross-functional programs that integrate technology and business functions, ensuring that solutions meet both technical and strategic business needs.
  • Design and maintain consolidated dashboards that track key KPIs, timelines, and resource utilization.
  • Provide accurate, real-time reporting to executive leadership and steering committees, synthesizing complex data into actionable insights.
  • Manage program budgets across multiple cost centers and funding sources, including capital and operational expenditures.
  • Partner with Finance, Procurement, and functional leaders to ensure accurate forecasting, tracking, and compliance with global policies.
  • Facilitate cross-functional collaboration, aligning business priorities with program outcomes and enterprise value delivery.
  • Present program updates to senior executives and global governance forums, ensuring transparency and alignment.
  • Lead and mentor a high-performing team of program and project managers.
  • Oversee third-party vendors and consultants, ensuring commitments are delivered on scope, quality, and time.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, transparency, and continuous improvement.

What we expect of you

Basic Qualifications:

  • Doctorate degree and 4 years of Scientific and/or Operations and/or Business experience Or
  • Master’s degree and 7 years of Scientific and/or Operations and/or Business experience Or
  • Bachelor’s degree and 9 years of Scientific and/or Operations and/or Business experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 10+ years’ experience in Biotechnology / Pharmaceutical or related industries, with a strong focus on enterprise program and portfolio management.
  • Proven track record of leading large-scale, transformational programs involving complex problem-solving, multi-stakeholder management, and highly interdependent program environments.
  • Extensive experience managing cross-functional programs, including technology-focused programs that directly impact business functions.
  • Strong expertise in program governance, risk management, and stakeholder alignment.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to prepare executive-level presentations and influence senior leadership.
  • Strong technical and analytical skills using digital tools to support decision-making and program execution.
  • Demonstrated ability to bring structure to complex problems, pragmatically scope solutions, and lead execution to completion.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills, with a demonstrated ability to inspire and influence across different levels and functions.
  • Knowledge of drug development, operations, or regulated environments is highly desirable.
  • Independent, motivated, and collaborative professional with experience in a matrixed environment.

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on several factors, including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
