What you will do
Let’s do this. Let’s change the world! Amgen’s Biosimilars Business Unit (BBU) is an integrated BU that manages assets from development to commercial readiness to deliver for patients. Amgen’s current biosimilars portfolio of 8 launched and 3 pipeline biosimilars is poised to deliver ~$4B in revenue by 2030. We are seeking to build upon this success and expand upon this growth in the decade to follow.
To accomplish this goal, this newly-framed Director of Marketing role will spearhead the evolution of commercial capabilities needed for the BBU to succeed in our dynamically evolving marketplace. Importantly, this role will champion the development of new commercial capabilities to support the desired growth for the BBU portfolio. This Director role will have responsibilities for leading the long-range planning efforts involved in evaluating, recommending and driving the implementation of strategic options to ensure the long-term commercial success of the global biosimilars portfolio. The Director will put the customer at the center of our efforts, ensuring that insights and analytics are used to inform our strategic choices and decisions while leveraging the latest technology in a manner to accomplish this efficiently and expediently.
Reporting to the Executive Director for the Global Biosimilars Commercial Lead, this position will lead a team of 3 team members.
Key responsibilities include:
Lead LRS process, collaborating with cross-functional and regional partners to ensure alignment on assumptions
Support development of strategies to identify commercial potential while also flagging relevant risks and opportunities
Serve as primary point of contact for all commercial analytical and insights needs, partnering with SME leads where needed (e.g. primary market research)
Lead competitive intelligence function for BBU, supporting product teams (PTs) for pipeline and launch products
Support the development of new dashboarding using AI wherever appropriate to ensure we measure and track our efforts and enable learnings for the future
Support ad hoc requests from various BBU stakeholders
Remain current on all of the latest developments in the biosimilar industry
Organize and facilitate strategic exercises and competitive simulations to generate competitive insights and plans
Spearhead the development and implementation of the technology roadmap for BBU needs, including artificial intelligence/machine learning (AI/ML), automation, and digital tools
Serve as the strategic lead for embedding automation and advanced analytics into core BBU workflows, partnering closely with GCC and ATMOS leads as appropriate
Champion change management needs for the adoption of our technology platforms as enablers for our strategic portfolio plan across functions of the BBU organization
Devise and foster enhanced ways of working across the BBU for commercial and analytical purposes to support future growth and while facilitating efficiencies
Develop productive relationships with key stakeholders (commercial, medical, regional, and other matrix partners) to define business problems and develop integrated analytical plans based on best practice methodologies

Basic Qualifications:
Doctorate degree and 4 years of Marketing, Analytics, or Strategy Consulting experience
Or
Master’s degree and 8 years Marketing, Analytics, or Strategy Consulting experience
Or
Bachelor’s degree and 10 years Marketing, Analytics, or Strategy Consulting experience
In addition to meeting at least one of the above requirements, you must have at least 4 years experience directly managing people and/or leadership experience leading teams, projects, programs, or directing the allocation or resources. Your managerial experience may run concurrently with the required technical experience referenced above
Preferred Qualifications:
10+ years of biotech/pharmaceutical industry experience with strong management skills
Deep understanding of marketing and strategy concepts
Demonstrated ability to think strategically and analyze data to support key business decisions
Proven business savvy skill set
Creative problem-solving skills
Strong interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to work effectively across the matrix
Strong leadership skills, including ability to influence teams with diverse backgrounds
Excellent oral, written, and presentation skills—able to explain complex concepts clearly to a variety of audiences
Ability to work collaboratively in team-based environment
Proven project management skills—able to manage multiple large projects simultaneously
Demonstrated analytical skills—understands the advantages and limits of different analytical approaches and studies
Broad, working knowledge of commonly used biopharmaceutical industry databases
Understanding of at least one other functional area in business analytics and insights (i.e.: market research, forecasting, marketing analysis)
Experience in insights generation for the biopharmaceutical (or other healthcare) industry
Knowledge of oncology market

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
