You’re a technical product manager who is intellectually curious with a proven track-record of developing and implementing technology-centric solutions in the drug development project and portfolio management space. We’re looking for a technology product management professional who is skilled and knowledgeable in portfolio management, analytics, and reporting with experience implementing technology solutions to portfolio management and analytics within the biotechnology industry.
The Digital Product Senior Manager, Commercialization Reporting & Analytics, reports to theDirector of Amgen’s Portfolio Reporting & Systems Teamwithin thePortfolio Management Office, Commercialization, Research & Development.Commercializationis the framework for bringing molecules from the lab through the clinic and to patients. The Portfolio Reporting & Systems Teamis responsible for providing enterprise-level analytics on Amgen’s R&D Pipeline.There are few processes that aremore central to Amgen than Commercialization.We are open to discussions about location flexibility or remote work arrangements. However, due to the nature of the work, co-location with the headquarters in Thousand Oaks is preferred.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the end-to-end product lifecycle for the Commercialization Reporting & Analytics platform (a.k.a. “Mercury”), from strategic planning to roadmap execution and ongoing enhancements.
- Define, prioritize, and refine product features and requirements based on user research, business needs, and technology trends, with a focus on reporting capabilities and user experience.
- Act as the primary liaison between business stakeholders and technical teams to ensure alignment and delivery of data-driven solutions.
- Own the product vision for Tableau-based dashboards and reporting tools; drive standardization and best practices in data visualization and storytelling across the platform.
- Develop and manage Smartsheet dashboards and reports to support project visibility, performance tracking, and automation of key workflows.
- Build and maintain automated workflows within Smartsheet to improve operational efficiency and reduce manual effort across reporting processes.
- Partner closely with cross-functional teams, including Digital Technology & Innovation (DTI), Commercial, Clinical, and Regulatory functions, to translate complex analytics requirements into scalable Tableau products.
- Evaluate and integrate additional business intelligence tools (e.g., Power BI, Databricks, etc.) as needed to complement existing reporting capabilities.
- Monitor product performance, user engagement, and adoption metrics to inform continuous improvement and decision-making.
- Lead user acceptance testing (UAT), training, and communication efforts to support platform releases and ensure end-user satisfaction.
- Stay current with industry best practices in product management, data visualization, and the evolving needs of the biotech and pharmaceutical sectors.
- Foster a high-performance, cross-functional product culture focused on value delivery, innovation, and user-centered design.

Basic Qualifications:
Doctorate degree and 2 years of product management experience
Or
Master’s degree and 4 years of product management experience
Or
Bachelor’s degree and 6 years of product management experience
Or
Associate's Degree and 10 years of product Management experience
Or
High School Diploma / GED and 12 years of product management experience
Additional Qualifications:
- Strong understanding of data warehousing, ETL pipelines, and SQL-based querying; familiarity with enterprise data platforms.
- Deep expertise with Tableau, including dashboard development, data blending, calculations, performance optimization, and user permissions management.
- Strong hands-on experience designing and managing dashboards, reports, and automated workflows in Smartsheet.
- Proven experience leading product development for enterprise reporting and analytics platforms, ideally in a regulated or complex environment.
- Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills; able to articulate complex data and product concepts to business and technical audiences.
- Demonstrated success working in cross-functional teams using Agile or hybrid development methodologies.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple initiatives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with evolving priorities.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced degree (MBA, MS in Information Systems, or related field).
- Experience with complementary data analytics & visualization tools such as Power BI and Databricks.
- High proficiency in building and customizing Smartsheet solutions, including cross-sheet references, forms, automation rules, and complex dashboard configurations.
- Familiarity with product management tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence) and collaboration platforms.
- Industry experience in the Biotechnology, Pharmaceutical, or other Healthcare-related field
- Understanding of the drug development lifecycle and relevant functions (e.g., Research, Clinical, Regulatory, Manufacturing, Commercial).
- Demonstrated ability to influence without authority and drive alignment across diverse partner groups.
- Certification in Product Management, Tableau, or Agile/Scrum frameworks.
Ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive alignment in a fast-paced, high-performance environment. Adept at partnering with business stakeholders to deeply understand their reporting and analytics needs, and translating those needs into a clear, strategic product roadmap. This individual must combine strong product management with technical fluency—capable of guiding solution design, prototyping Tableau dashboards hands-on when needed, and owning the full product lifecycle from ideation through launch and continuous improvement.

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
