Corporate Sustainability Senior Manager
What you will do
Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. In this vital role, you will help shape the sustainability approach for one of the world’s largest biotech. Corporate Sustainability is an evolving space quickly shifting from voluntary reporting to rigorous, required disclosures. The successful candidate will be a key member of Amgen’s Corporate Sustainability team focused on mandatory reporting, monitoring regulations, conducting external horizon scanning, building an internal controls environment, supporting data management strategy, and being a key partner in the translation of that data into external reporting.
The successful candidate will play a crucial part in producing Amgen’s annual Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) and EU Taxonomy reporting and ensuring compliance with new global and local reporting requirements. This role is a unique opportunity to shape and drive Amgen’s sustainability initiatives at a strategic and operational level.
Key Responsibilities:
Sustainability Reporting
- Lead strategic review of reporting expectations, disclosures, and assurance requirements from regulators, investors, rating agencies, and other stakeholders.
- Conduct materiality assessments, identify topics and data for disclosure, and perform peer benchmarking and trend analysis.
- Analyze financial and non-financial data for sustainability reporting and sustainable finance requirements, and coordinate with cross-functional subject matter experts on data readiness and gap remediation.
- Oversee disclosure development and data collection, including coordinating subject matter expert interviews, scanning Amgen sites and materials for content, drafting reports, and facilitating disclosure reviews and data validation.
- Lead coordination with global affiliates to support the incorporation of sustainability information into local filings and statutory reports, ensuring consistency and compliance.
- Lead the compilation of disclosures for frameworks such as CSRD, EU Taxonomy, CSDDD, ISSB, and other reporting requirements.
Internal Controls and Assurance Readiness
- Help shape and execute the design, buildout, and continuous improvement of the sustainability internal controls and assurance program.
- Support the development of a data integrity and internal controls environment, including creating SOPs, processes, and controls documentation.
- Support the education and enablement of data owners and stakeholders on controls expectations, roles, and responsibilities.
- Support preparedness for and implementation of external assurance.
Regulatory Monitoring
- Manage the regulatory horizon scanning process and platforms to identify emerging and evolving sustainability requirements.
- Perform scoping assessments to determine regulatory applicability from the entity level to the enterprise-wide level.
- Communicate regulatory changes and scoping outcomes to relevant functions.
Sustainability Program Development
- Help shape and execute Amgen’s sustainability strategy, including regulatory compliance, technology enablement, goal setting, and program evolution.
- Support cross-functional communications, including preparing and delivering presentations to leadership.
- Manage engagements with third-party vendors, advisors, and assurance providers.

Basic Qualifications:
Doctorate degree and 2 years of sustainability or statutory reporting experience
OR
Master’s degree and 4 years of sustainability or statutory reporting experience
OR
Bachelor’s degree and 6 years of sustainability or statutory reporting experience
OR
Associate’s degree and 10 years of sustainability or statutory reporting experience
OR
High school diploma / GED and 12 years of sustainability or statutory reporting experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Broad background in sustainability.
- Proven track record of working successfully in teams.
- Experience with or exposure to legal documentation.
- Accounting degree and CPA preferred, but not required.

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
