Chief of Staff, Enterprise AI & Data Science

What you will do

Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. In this vital role you will serve as Chief of Staff to the VP of AI & Data Science. This leader will play a central role in orchestrating strategic planning, portfolio management, operational excellence, cross-functional alignment, and organizational readiness across AI & Data Science initiatives. 

This is a high-impact, high-visibility role ideal for someone who thrives in fast-paced, matrixed environments and can move seamlessly between strategy, operations, communications, and delivery. 

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & Planning

  • Serve as a thought partner to executive leadership; drive execution on departmental priorities and long-range planning. 

  • Coordinate yearly planning activities, including portfolio strategy, headcount forecasting, and budgeting. 

  • Shape and run annual operating rhythms (QBRs, portfolio reviews, LT offsites, staff meetings, and readouts). 

Chief of Staff 

  • Manage day-to-day execution of departmental strategy, supporting cross-functional priorities, key decisions, and follow-through. 

  • Own agenda planning, coordination, and facilitation for leadership meetings and offsites. 

  • Serve as the connective tissue across AI&D leaders, tracking key initiatives and ensuring alignment. 

Organizational Operations

  • Manage the internal AI & Data Science portfolio & prioritization of requests for AI agents & applications across the company. 

  • Drive internal communications, cultural rituals, time tracking and cross-departmental engagement. 

  • Support organizational design activities, including new roles, staff transitions, and capability mapping. 

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with Finance, HR, Tech, and Comms to support budget, talent, and engagement strategies. 

  • Lead departmental communications strategy and content calendar, including newsletters, events, and executive updates. 

  • Coordinate closely with Product and Program Leads to support project intake, prioritization, and delivery oversight.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  • Doctorate degree and 4+ years of strategic planning, business operations, or consulting experience 
    OR

  • Master’s degree and 7+ years of the same experience 
    OR

  • Bachelor’s degree and 9+ years of relevant experience 

Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA or advanced degree in strategy, management, or related field 

  • Experience in life sciences, biotech, or AI/data-driven organizations 

  • Exceptional executive presence, judgment, and communication skills 

  • Proven track record leading strategic initiatives and operating with agility 

  • Expertise with executive-level presentation, change management, and cross-functional planning 

  • High EQ and comfort navigating ambiguity with diplomacy and influence
