AI & Data Portfolio Finance Manager
What you will do
Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. In this vital role, you will lead budget execution for AI & Data departments within Amgen’s Technology and Medical Organization (ATMOS). In partnership with functional leaders, HR, Finance, and governance, you will provide crucial financial leadership, planning, and analysis for both departments and initiatives, focusing on budgeting, forecasting, cost optimization, and capital allocation. This individual is a trusted advisor to our department and project leaders, identifying areas for efficient execution of our strategy. The successful candidate is a seasoned professional with experience managing a technology project portfolio and navigating governance requirements.
Responsibilities
For Departments:
- Leads and facilitates annual budget planning collection and related analysis.
- Maintains budget plans on an ongoing basis and reconciles them with actual spend.
- Serves as a lead contributor for quarterly forecast updates and close activities.
- Provides ad hoc analytical support for spending trends, resource utilization, and variance analysis.
- Provides headcount planning support by maintaining relevant data and assisting in workforce planning.
- Consistently adheres to common processes established by the enterprise.
For Initiatives:
- Partners with leaders on business case generation and submission for AI and data projects.
- Determines the financial breakdown of investments across capital, deferred expense, and operating expense.
- Supports resource allocation tracking.
- Provides expert budget execution support throughout the procure-to-pay process.
- Ensures alignment with governance (ETDG) guidelines, timelines, and processes.
Decision Support:
- Delivers financial analyses and presentations to senior leadership (SVP, VPs).
- Supports strategic ad hoc financial analysis requests and special projects, providing accurate and timely inputs to stakeholders.

Basic Qualifications:
Doctorate degree and 2 years of financial analytics experience
OR
Master’s degree and 4 years of financial analytics experience
OR
Bachelor’s degree and 6 years of financial analytics experience
OR
Associate’s degree and 10 years of financial analytics experience
OR
High school diploma / GED and 12 years of financial analytics experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced degree in business or finance.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Experience with financial reporting and forecasting.
- Experience with SAP, Ariba, and Anaplan.
- General familiarity with software development processes and information technology.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Demonstrated passion for process improvement.
- Ability to thrive in a complex, matrixed environment, collaborate and coordinate with individuals at various levels, influence others effectively, and manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously.

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
