What you will do:

As the  Marketing and Launch Excellence, Senior Manager within Amgen’s Japan Transformation Office, you will play a crucial role in building and enhancing our marketing capability and launch excellence capability. You will support a Marketing and Launch Excellence Lead (Associate Director) in strengthening our end-to-end commercial excellence capabilities. Working closely with the Lead, you will partner with brand managers, commercial leaders, medical teams, and cross-functional partners to identify priority areas, provide structured support, and help drive consistent excellence across both launch and marketing disciplines.

Key Responsibilities:

In this role, you will support both Launch Excellence and Marketing Excellence by helping assess current practices, identify capability needs, localize global frameworks, and strengthen execution across therapeutic areas. You will enable disciplined launch readiness and enhance marketing capability building by working closely with brand teams, commercial leaders, and the Senior Lead. This position is suited for someone who is structured, proactive, and motivated to elevate Japan’s commercial performance.

1. Launch Excellence Support (40%)

Embed a structured, best-in-class launch framework across Amgen Japan. Your work will focus on operationalizing launch excellence framework and standards and ensuring execution quality. Key responsibilities include:

  • Strategic partnership and consulting: Conduct research, prepare insights, and provide supporting analysis to guide best-practice launch planning.
  • Assessment & diagnosis: Analyze launch plans and execution of recent and upcoming products to identify gaps, risks, and strengths.
  • Performance monitoring: Support development of launch KPIs, dashboards, and tracking mechanisms for consistent performance visibility.
  • Company-wide launch excellence dashboard development: design, develop, and integrate a unified Launch Excellence dashboard that consolidates milestones, timelines, risks, and status across all launches to enable enterprise-wide transparency and alignment.

2. Marketing Excellence & Capability Development (40%)

Strengthen core marketing skills across the organization. Key responsibilities include:

  • Marketing capability assessment: Gather insights through data, interviews, and evaluation tools to understand team needs.
  • Training and curriculum development & execution: Localize ABM content and deliver workshops on brand strategy, customer engagement, digital/omni execution, and analytics.
  • Playbook and toolkit localization: manage global/local marketing guides and tools to improve brand planning, campaign execution, and performance measurement.
  • Foster Best-practice sharing: Facilitate knowledge-sharing platforms to encourage collaboration and innovation across teams.
  • Pilots and test-and-learn programs: Support experimentation with new marketing approaches and help scale proven solutions.

3. Field Execution & HCP Engagement Excellence (20%)

Support capability building and future-state design for in-field marketing roles and HCP engagement. Key responsibilities include:

  • Narrative Facilitator role enhancement: Assess current role performance and alignment to brand strategy, support future competency and role design, and contribute to training, certification, and KPI development.
  • Speaker development support: Help build Japan’s speaker development framework, refine physician content, and coordinate training and feedback to improve presentation quality.

What we expect of you:

Qualifications

  • MBA or Master’s degree in Marketing, Business, Life Sciences, or related fields.
  • 7+ years of experience in pharmaceutical marketing, launch excellence, marketing consulting, or commercial excellence roles with a strong focus on capability building & driving launch excellence.
  • Strong project management skills with a proven track record in developing and executing launch strategies.
  • Expertise in change management principles and their application within marketing and cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Proficiency in data-driven decision-making and the use of analytics tools to measure program success.
  • Strong ability to assess marketing functions, use data-driven insights, and design strategic solutions tailored to the healthcare sector.
  • Exceptional presentation and storytelling skills, with the ability to simplify complex concepts for diverse internal audiences.
  • Demonstrated success in guiding internal teams, influencing senior stakeholders, and driving the adoption of new capabilities.

  • Capability Uplift: Demonstrated improvement in marketing team’s knowledge and skills around launch excellence as evidenced by pre- and post-training assessments.
  • Launch Readiness Scores: Adoption of a launch readiness scorecard to assess the preparedness of each new product launch.
  • Cross-Functional Engagement: Measured participation and collaboration rates across teams in launch planning activities.
  • Change Adoption: Degree of adoption of new processes, tools, and frameworks by marketing and cross-functional teams.
  • Time-to-Impact: Reduction in time to achieve key launch milestones (e.g., brand strategy finalization, campaign deployment).
  • Business Impact: Tangible contribution to successful product launches, reflected in post-launch performance indicators like market share uptake, HCP adoption rates, and patient access improvements.
