This newly created role you will take ownership as the Cardiovascular Marketing Lead to implement the growth strategy and ensure marketing plan preparation and delivery to maximize the potential of the product. You will contribute with strong leadership cross-functionally to ensure continuous improvement, performance and market plan delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

Phase 1:

Develops and Executes Strategy

  • Develops and leads local brand strategies for product whilst providing input into the development of Global Strategy

  • Develops and leads executes of Market Shaping Plans and prepare early long-range plans (LRP) incl. key performance driver assumptions.

Delivers Results

  • Lead the generation of insights leveraging cross-functional teams to deepen understanding of patients, HCP, Medical association, Policy Makers, National/International environment and translating these insights into meaningful strategic choices and actions (e.g. shaping market dynamics and environment through policy shaping/ stakeholder endorsement on optimal treatment approach working with Medical Associations; policy shaping; local government initiatives etc.)

  • Understand and assess market access potential from multiple perspectives to pave the way for commercialization opportunity in Japan to serve more patients

  • Identify and quantify risk and opportunities from short/mid/long term assessment overlayed with local vs global lens to find the optimal path for the new asset

Leads People & Work in Teams

  • Partners with Global team for consistent brand strategy.

  • Leads and chairs cross-functional Team Meetings and ensures a high-performing team dynamic.

  • Partners with local Medical Advisors to optimize brand performance through Medical Society partnership, opinion leader development and management, high quality medical education, information & communications.

Phase 2:

Develops and Executes Strategy

  • Develops and leads local brand & launch strategies for Cardiovascular product in line with Global strategy and communicates it to relevant stakeholders.

  • Develops and leads executes annual Affiliate Brand Plans and develops long range plans (LRP) incl. key performance driver assumptions.

Delivers Results

  • Achieves best-in-class product performance throughout the product lifecycle.

  • Ensures the design and execution of promotional activities (e.g. detail aids, message scripts, advertising, congresses etc.) in line with Global branding and key message guidance.

  • Recommends annual national sales target and quarterly target updates and achieves agreement with key stakeholders.

  • Works with Business Analyst on a monthly basis to understand key performance drivers (e.g. market, market share) and performance insights.

Leads People & Work in Teams

  • Upon commercialization, partners with National; Reginal Sales Directors and Sales District Managers to drive salesforce motivation, strategic execution and performance.

Phase 1 & 2

Delivers Results

  • Proposes business cases to capitalize on new opportunities.

  • Quickly identifies issues, leads Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and creates plan of action.

Oversees Market Research and Competitive Intelligence

  • Commissions and oversees market research and develops plan of action.

  • Creates competitive intelligence and develops competitive action plan.

Leads People & Work in Teams

  • Leads Cardiovascular marketing team with people management responsibilities for direct reports.

  • Partners with Global team and Regional team for consistent brand strategy.

  • Leads and chairs cross-functional Team Meetings and ensures a high-performing team dynamic.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Experience in Marketing for minimum of 6 years in a multi-national pharmaceutical company in Japan

  • Experience in managing multiple direct reports for at least 3 years

  • Doctorate degree & 2 years of experience, Master’s degree & 6 years of experience, or Bachelor’s degree & 8 years of experience

  • Excellent coordination/negotiation skills for both internal and external parties.

  • Excellent organizational and planning skills

  • Good communication/ presentation skills

  • Language: Japanese – Native level

  • English – Business level

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in New Product Planning (NPP) is desirable (highly regarded)

  • Experience working with Global and Regional cross-functional teams (highly regarded)

  • Experience in a multinational pharmaceutical company in Japanese marketplace

  • Broad experience with pharmaceutical marketing portfolio ownership

  • Therapeutic experience in Cardiovascular (desirable)

  • Proven success in gaining or maintaining market leadership position

  • Building relationships at all levels and leading cross-functional teams aligned to plan

  • Financial and budgeting skills and experience

  • Pharmaceutical Sales experience also well regarded

  • Relevant degree qualifications well regarded

  • Fluency in English, both oral and written communications

  • Competent computer skills (MS Office programs)
