Job purpose

  • Lead and shape medical strategy and plan for product and therapeutic area.
  • Provide strategic medical input into brand strategy, lifecycle management, and portfolio discussions.
  • Represent the Japan medical perspective in global and regional discussions.
  • Lead evidence generation, publication, and key scientific activities.
  • Provide medical leadership across cross-functional teams and support capability development within Medical Affairs.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain strategic relationships with KOLs, scientific experts, and other relevant external stakeholders.
  • Lead the development and execution of medical strategy and medical activities.
  • Provide strategic medical input into launch and lifecycle management plans.
  • Identify evidence gaps and lead evidence generation and publication activities.
  • Lead advisory boards, scientific meetings, and other key medical programs.
  • Provide medical expertise for marketed products, pipeline assets, and value/access-related activities.
  • Synthesize scientific evidence and external insights to inform medical and cross-functional decision-making.
  • Lead cross-functional initiatives and influence relevant internal and external stakeholders.
  • Mentor and guide medical colleagues as appropriate.
  • Ensure all activities are conducted in accordance with Amgen policies, compliance, regulations, and ethical standards.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in life sciences or relevant area, or equivalent education and professional experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in Medical Affairs, Clinical Development, or a related pharmaceutical function.
  • Strong scientific and medical expertise.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead medical strategy and cross-functional initiatives.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Proficiency in Japanese and English.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in Medical Affairs, clinical research, RWD/RWE, and evidence generation.
  • Expertise in rare disease or relevant therapeutic areas.
  • Experience in product lifecycle management and collaboration with global/regional teams.
  • Strong mentoring and coaching skills.
