Scientist - Targeted Protein Degradation
What you will do
Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. Amgen’s Induced Proximity Platform (IPP) organization is committed to pushing the boundaries of drug discovery by harnessing proximity biology to address difficult and previously undruggable targets. The IPP team develops novel therapeutic modalities, including Molecular Glue Degraders and other Induced Proximity strategies, with applications across Oncology, Cardiometabolic Disorders, Inflammation, and Rare Diseases. Our scientists are part of a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment where biology, chemistry, and technology innovation converge to deliver transformative medicines for patients.
The Targeted Protein Degradation function within IPP is seeking a motivated Scientist to play a key role in building phenotypic-based screening platforms that will enable the identification of Molecular Glues for high-value targets. In this vital role you will contribute directly to cutting-edge drug discovery programs, while developing valuable expertise at the intersection of molecular biology, cell biology, and chemical biology.
Key Responsibilities:
- Execute experiments to identify, characterize, and optimize molecular glue degraders for therapeutic targets.
- Perform biochemical and cellular assays to investigate degrader activity and mechanisms of action.
- Collaborate with cross-functional partners in medicinal chemistry, biology, and data science to advance discovery programs.
- Assist in the design and implementation of phenotypic-based screening platforms for induced proximity drug discovery.
- Develop and validate cell-based assays that capture functional outcomes relevant to disease biology (HiBiT, NanoBiT, Cell viability assays).
- Support screening campaigns using high-throughput or high-content approaches, in partnership with automation and data teams.
- Work closely with colleagues across IPP to share results and integrate findings into broader discovery efforts.
- Present research progress in team meetings and contribute to technical reports and publications.
- Participate in a collaborative, fast-paced research culture that values creativity, rigor, and teamwork.
