What you will do

Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. In this vital role as Executive Director, Global Development Transformation, you will serve as a strategic leader within the Global Development Transformational Program, reporting directly to the Vice President in Global Development.

This role will be responsible for driving the execution of Clinical Trial transformation initiatives that enhance clinical trial design, operations, and cross-functional collaboration across a complex, matrixed organization. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in clinical operations and a proven track record of leading transformation efforts within the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry.

You will work closely with global and local teams to identify and address process inefficiencies, implement effective organizational changes, and ensure seamless integration of new technologies and tools. This leader will collaborate with senior stakeholders and cross-functional partners to align priorities, manage interdependencies, and deliver optimized solutions. You will be accountable for monitoring progress, establishing key performance indicators, and mitigating risks to ensure the success of transformation efforts.

In addition, you will provide mentorship and guidance to teams engaged in these projects, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and support global development transformation initiatives in clinical trial design and execution.

  • Manage change across a global, matrixed organization with multiple functions and capabilities.

  • Identify inefficiencies and recommend sustainable solutions to improve operational performance.

  • Ensure integration of transformation efforts with technological advancements and digital tools.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment and address interdependencies.

  • Monitor progress, develop KPIs, and assess the impact of transformation initiatives.

  • Proactively identify and mitigate risks to project success.

  • Support, mentor, and develop team members engaged in transformation activities.

What we expect of you

We are all different, yet we all use our unique contributions to serve patients. The candidate we seek is an experienced leader with the following qualifications.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Doctorate degree & 6 years of transformation initiative experience OR

  • Master’s degree & 10 years of transformation initiative experience OR

  • Bachelor’s degree & 12 years of transformation initiative experience AND

  • 6 years of managerial experience directly managing people and/or leadership experience leading teams, projects, programs or directing the allocation of resources

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 15+ years of experience in clinical operations, with at least 8 years leading large-scale transformation initiatives in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or healthcare industry.

  • Proven track record of implementing digital technologies (e.g., eClinical, EDC, AI/ML applications, decentralized clinical trials) to optimize clinical operations.

  • Deep knowledge of clinical trial lifecycle, regulatory requirements, and industry standards (e.g., GCP, ICH, FDA/EMA expectations).

  • Experience working in a highly matrixed, global organization, with a strong ability to influence across functions such as Clinical Operations, Clinical Development, Regulatory, IT, and R&D.

  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute change management strategies that drive engagement and sustainable adoption of new ways of working.

  • Expertise in data-driven decision-making, including the development and monitoring of KPIs, dashboards, and continuous improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma, Agile).

  • Strong executive presence with excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, including the ability to translate complex transformation goals into clear business value.

  • Experience leading cross-functional teams, with a passion for developing and mentoring leaders and fostering a culture of innovation.

The annual base salary range for this opportunity in the U.S. is $265,588 - $317,460.
