Strategic Planning & Operations (SP&O) Director – EVP Global Markets and Policy
What will you do
In this vital role you will partner with the Executive Vice President, Global Markets and Policy (“Global Markets”) and serve as a strategic and operational partner supporting the Global Markets organization. You will help drive strategic clarity, commercial excellence, and leadership team effectiveness. Success in this role will come from the ability to connect strategy to execution, translate ambiguity into structured action plans, and ensure alignment across the organization and with stakeholders around the company. This role will report to the Vice President of Global Markets and Policy Transformation and partner directly and closely with the functional EVP and Senior Leadership Team.
Key activities include:
Serve as a strategic thought partner to the EVP Global Markets and his Senior Leadership Team (SLT)
Plan and coordinate SLT engagements to drive alignment, connectivity, and execution
Lead and support critical projects and strategic initiatives across the Global Markets organization and with cross-functional partners
Advise on key priorities and issues across Global Markets
Build and maintain strong stakeholder relationships within Global Markets and across Amgen; proactively communicate, seek input, and facilitate key decisions
Lead GCO-wide activities and events (e.g., all-staff meetings) to enhance engagement and team connectivity
Translate ambiguous business needs into structured action plans, projects, and high-impact deliverables
Track milestones and ensure initiatives are delivered on time and with high quality

Basic Qualifications:
Doctorate degree and 4 years of commercial or related experience
OR
Master’s degree and 8 years of commercial or related experience
OR
Bachelor’s degree and 10 years of commercial or related experience
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in sales, marketing, or consulting within the biopharmaceutical industry, or within a closely aligned business function
Strong critical thinking, analytical, and project management capabilities
Results-orientation with a strong sense of ownership and accountability
Ability to lead projects end-to-end, from concept through execution
Proactive, self-directed, and quick to learn in dynamic environments
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey complex information
Strong interpersonal, negotiation, and relationship management skills, with active listening capabilities
Ability to effectively engage and influence stakeholders at all levels, including senior leadership
Demonstrated ability to influence without authority while fostering a values-based, collaborative environment
Ability to navigate complex, matrixed, and at times ambiguous organizational environments
Understanding of and ability to operate within Commercialization and Corporate Governance processes

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
