Director-Information Systems

What you will do

Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. In this vital role you will lead the strategy, roadmap, implementation, and support of technology solutions for Amgen’s Corporate Affairs organization. This leader will ensure Corporate Affairs has a modern, connected digital ecosystem that improves employee experience, enables seamless collaboration, and leverages data and emerging AI capabilities responsibly. This role also has responsibility for supporting technology needs for Government Affairs and Amgen Congress events. The ideal candidate will be a strategic IT leader—equally comfortable driving operational excellence, enabling business transformation, and championing the adoption of innovative technologies, including generative and agentic AI.

Key Responsibilities

Technology Strategy & Roadmap

  • Define and deliver a multi-year technology strategy that enhances employee experience, collaboration, and knowledge sharing within Corporate Affairs.

  • Build a connected digital ecosystem that unifies data, platforms, and workflows.

  • Identify and implement AI-driven opportunities to support stakeholder engagement, corporate responsibility, communications, and risk monitoring.

  • Ability to shape enterprise technology priorities through thought leadership and influence

  • Partner with enterprise IT and AI leadership to ensure alignment with global architecture, governance, and ethical AI practices.

Execution & Delivery

  • Oversee design and implementation of solutions that harness AI, automation, and analytics for efficiency, insight generation, and personalization.

  • Work with enterprise data and AI partners to operationalize AI use cases tailored to Corporate Affairs needs

  • Deliver platforms that empower employees with intuitive, integrated experiences across content management, collaboration, and communication channels.

  • Ensure technologies are scalable, secure, compliant, and deliver measurable value.

  • Apply scaled agile delivery practices to accelerate execution, improve responsiveness to business needs, and ensure incremental value delivery.

Business Partnership

  • Serve as trusted advisor to Amgen’s Head of Corporate Affairs and Corporate Affairs leadership team, framing technology—especially AI and data insights—in terms of business outcomes.

  • Drive change management and employee adoption of digital and AI tools, ensuring solutions are embraced and embedded in daily work.

  • Partner with leaders in Government Affairs and commercial support technology needs for Congress events.

  • Educate business leaders on the potential and risks of emerging technologies, fostering confidence in adoption.

Team Leadership

  • Manage a global team and budget that spans internal staff and external partners across multiple regions, ensuring efficient resource allocation and delivery excellence.

  • Cultivate a culture of innovation, continuous learning, and responsible experimentation with emerging tools.

  • Build strong internal and external partnerships to stay ahead of technology trends.

  • Member of the Corporate Functions Technology leadership team

Operational Excellence

  • Oversee ongoing support and optimization of Corporate Affairs platforms, with a focus on reliability, performance, and user satisfaction.

  • Ensure seamless integration of AI and data capabilities into core operations while maintaining compliance with data privacy and security standards.

  • Embed cybersecurity, compliance, and ethical AI considerations into all solutions to safeguard corporate reputation and trust

  • Develop and track KPIs tied to both business impact and employee experience.

What we expect of you

Basic Qualifications:

Doctorate degree and 4 years of Information Systems experience

Or

Master’s degree and 7 years of Information Systems experience

Or

Bachelor’s degree and 9 years of Information Systems experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong literacy in AI technologies (LLMs, generative AI, agentic AI, automation, advanced analytics) with demonstrated examples of adoption.

  • Experience improving digital employee experience through connected platforms and modern collaboration tools.

  • Familiarity with Corporate Affairs, Communications, or related corporate functions preferred.

  • Excellent communication skills; able to translate complex technology into clear value propositions for executives and employees alike.

  • Experience collaborating with all business levels, including Executive Director/VPs, and driving tough decisions.

  • Extensive experience leading collaboration with cross-functional, cross-organization teams to assemble software delivery plans, secure commitments, and resolve blocking issues.

  • Experience in software delivery using scaled agile and handling portfolios of ten plus teams.

  • Strong decision-making ability, with a collaborative approach that values input from team members and partners.

  • Proven track record in building technology strategies and delivering global-scale solutions.

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
