CD&A – Senior Manager, IC Governance, Audit & Program Management
What you will do
The US Field Excellence team provides guidance and support to the sales organization by optimizing field experience through Field Effectiveness, Incentive Compensation, Field Operations, and Field Systems and Capabilities Transformation. This role sits within the Incentive Compensation team and is instrumental as IC programs grow in complexity, scale, and regulatory scrutiny. It ensures disciplined governance, audit readiness, and consistent execution across all U.S. field incentive programs.

In this vital role the Senior Manager, IC Governance, Audit & Program Management will lead IC governance processes, own enterprise-level IC audit readiness, and drive disciplined program management across IC design and operations. The individual will support governance and delivery for multiple U.S. field incentive plans covering large, multi-therapeutic sales organizations. This role is an individual contributor with enterprise-wide influence.
The role partners closely with Sales Operations, Finance, HR, Compliance, IT, and Audit to ensure IC programs meet business needs while adhering to control and compliance standards.
Flexible Commuter role to Thousand Oaks, CA or Deerfield, IL office. You will work on-site 2 to 3 days a week.
This position reports to the Director Incentive Compensation and will be responsible for the following:
IC Governance and Policy
- Lead the annual review and governance of the Amgen Field Incentive Plan (FIP) policy in partnership with HR, Employment Law, and the IC Directors
- Drive continuous improvement across IC governance, audit readiness, controls, and execution discipline
- Manage portfolio-wide IC governance forums and escalation processes to enable timely, well-informed decision-making
- Define and enforce decision rights, escalation paths, and approval authorities across IC programs
Audit Controls & Compliance
- Own enterprise-level IC audit readiness strategy, including control design, documentation standards, and issue remediation; partner with Finance, Compliance, and Audit
- Identify, manage, and mitigate legal and compliance risk across IC programs; support issue remediation as needed
- Lead end-of-year IC reviews to assess compliance with SOPs, identify gaps, and define improvement opportunities for future cycles
- Drive reduction in repeat audit findings and control deficiencies year over year
Program & Delivery Management
- Provide governance oversight for IC payroll processing, ensuring strong controls, issue escalation, and separation of duties
- Lead IC service delivery governance with offshore/shared services teams (service standards, throughput, quality, controls, and escalations)
- Act as the escalation owner for complex IC operational issues across Sales Operations and vendors
- Manage vendor performance, SLAs, and cost efficiency for IC program support
- Maintain process maps/standard work instructions for IC operations and controls

Basic Qualifications:
Doctorate degree and 2 years of incentive compensation, sales operations, compliance, or program management experience
OR
Master’s degree and 4 years of incentive compensation, sales operations, compliance, or program management experience
OR
Bachelor’s degree and 6 years of incentive compensation, sales operations, compliance, or program management experience
OR
Associate’s degree and 10 years of incentive compensation, sales operations, compliance, or program management experience
OR
High school diploma / GED and 12 years of incentive compensation, sales operations, compliance, or program management experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- 2+ years in a leadership or governance role, preferably in a large and complex organization
- Functional Leadership: Ability to drive and influence incentive compensation governance and program effectiveness
- Technical Expertise: Strong knowledge of incentive compensation principles, practices, and trends
- Planning and Process Optimization: Assess incentive compensation program processes and operations, identify challenges and/or opportunities, and implement improvements
- Highly Organized: Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities while ensuring precise coordination between onshore and offshore teams operating across a large time difference in order to optimize turnaround times
- Excellent Communication: Convey information clearly, accurately, and succinctly to a diverse audience
- Collaboration: Ability to work effectively across various stakeholders and cross functional partners
- Experience with SOX / internal controls; compliance committee or governance forum leadership

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
