CD&A - Senior Manager Digital Business Intelligence
What you will do
Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. Amgen’s Data Science department is seeking an US-based Senior Manager, Digital Business Intelligence to lead our globally distributed BI operations team. This role is responsible for:
- Driving global BI delivery excellence and ensuring consistent, high-quality reporting across business functions
- Establishing and enforcing data quality rigor and governance standards to build trust in enterprise data
- Leading the integration of advanced analytics and AI technologies into Amgen’s BI ecosystem to elevate decision-making
You will play a central role in transforming BI operations into a scalable, automated, and innovation-forward capability that supports decision-making across functions. In addition to ensuring operational stability and consistency, this role will champion adoption of AI-assisted analytics, automated data pipelines, and new technologies to elevate our analytical maturity.
Flexible Commuter role to one of Amgen's offices in Thousand Oaks, CA or Deerfield, IL. You will work on-site a minimum of 2-3 days a week.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor BI Analysts and BI Leads across global teams, encouraging collaboration, accountability, and continuous learning
- Lead team performance by defining and tracking KPIs, SLAs, and delivery commitments aligned to business priorities
- Partner with US and global collaborators to ensure analytics solutions address key needs and deliver actionable insights
- Oversee design, development, and delivery of scalable BI reports, dashboards, and self-service solutions
- Drive adoption of standard processes in data visualization, data storytelling, and semantic modeling
- Collaborate with Data Engineering, Platform, and Governance teams to ensure data quality, security, and compliance
- Translate business priorities into actionable BI roadmaps and ensure execution across offshore and onshore teams
- Introduce process improvements, tools, and methodologies that enhance team efficiency and business impact
- Support integration of advanced analytics, AI, and ML insights into BI reporting
- Stay informed about BI and analytics trends and champion innovative, valuable approaches
- Promote an agile, product-oriented mindset within BI delivery teams
What we expect of you

Basic Qualifications:
Doctorate degree and 2 years of data engineering, science, or operations experience
OR
Master’s degree and 6 years of data engineering, science, or operations experience
OR
Bachelor’s degree and 8 years of data engineering, science, or operations experience
OR
Associate’s degree and 10 years of data engineering, science, or operations experience
OR
High school diploma / GED and 12 years of data engineering, science, or operations experience
In addition to meeting at least one of the above requirements, you must have a minimum of 2 years experience directly managing people and/or leadership experience leading teams, projects, programs, or directing the allocation or resources. Your managerial experience may run concurrently with the required technical experience referenced above
Preferred Qualifications:
- 6+ years in business intelligence, analytics delivery, or data strategy, with global team leadership experience
- Expertise with BI platforms (Power BI, Tableau, Looker) and data storytelling best practices
- Expertise in designing business-friendly data models and scalable self-service analytics solutions
- Proven ability to lead globally distributed analytics teams, ensuring high-quality, timely delivery through performance metrics, service standards, and agile collaboration
- Experience integrating AI/ML insights into BI solutions
- Excellent collaborator engagement and ability to translate business needs into analytics solutions
- Demonstrated innovation in BI through emerging technologies (e.g., natural language query, generative AI, advanced visualization)

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
