What you will do

In this critical role within Global Customer Capabilities & Innovation (GCCI), reporting to VP GCCI, the Associate Vice President will lead the strategy, development, and operationalization of advanced data and analytics capabilities across Neural Nexus, Data Management, and Decision Sciences.This leader will shape how data, AI, and advanced analytics are leveraged to enable faster, more informed decision-making and enhanced customer impact across the enterprise. The role partners closely with enterprise and functional leaders to translate business priorities into scalable, innovative data solutions aligned with Amgen’s long-term strategy.
Strategy, Innovation & Governance
Shape and execute the data and analytics strategy for GCCI, aligned with enterprise priorities and customer-centric outcomes
Influence cross-functional alignment on data, AI, and decision science priorities, ensuring focus on highest-value opportunities
Lead the evolution of data governance, stewardship, and standards within GCCI in alignment with enterprise frameworks
Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leaders, bringing external perspective and industry-leading practices in data and AI
Drive innovation through the adoption of emerging technologies (e.g., AI/ML, advanced analytics platforms)
Capability Leadership (Neural Nexus, Data Management, Decision Sciences)
Lead and scale integrated capabilities across:
Neural Nexus (AI/advanced analytics enablement)
Data Management (data quality, master data, data lifecycle)
Decision Sciences (marketing mix modeling, predictive analytics, advanced modeling)
Ensure delivery of scalable, reusable data assets and analytical products that drive measurable business value
Partner with technology (ATMOS) and business teams to enable modern, interoperable data architecture aligned with FAIR and Clean Core principles
Oversee prioritization and execution of key programs, balancing innovation with operational excellence
Operational Excellence
Establish operating models, KPIs, and governance to ensure effective execution across GCCI capabilities
Drive continuous improvement of data quality, accessibility, and usability
Ensure reliable delivery and performance of critical data and analytics platforms
Leadership & Talent
Lead a team of Executive Directors and Directors, building a high-performing, globally distributed organization
Develop leadership bench strength and long-term talent strategy aligned with GCCI and enterprise needs
Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and collaboration
Champion diversity, inclusion, and engagement across teams
Stakeholder Engagement
Partner with senior business and functional leaders to align data capabilities with strategic priorities
Act as a key liaison across GCCI, technology, and business functions
Represent GCCI in enterprise forums and high-impact initiatives
What we expect of you

Basic Qualifications:
Doctorate degree & 7 years of data & analytics experience OR
Master’s degree & 10 years of data & analytics experience OR
Bachelor’s degree & 12 years of data & analytics experience AND
7 years of managerial experience directly managing people and/or leadership experience leading teams, projects, programs or directing the allocation of resources
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience leading data, AI, or analytics capabilities within a complex global organization
Ability to translate strategy into scalable execution across functions
Understanding of modern data ecosystems (e.g., data platforms, governance, AI/ML)
Ability to influence senior stakeholders and driving cross-functional alignment
Experience building and leading high-performing leadership teams

Actual salary will vary based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.In addition to the base salary, Amgen offers a Total Rewards Plan, based on eligibility, comprising of health and welfare plans for staff and eligible dependents, financial plans with opportunities to save towards retirement or other goals, work/life balance, and career development opportunities that may include:
