What you will do

Accountabilities:

Reporting to the Global Oncology Executive Medical Director, The JAPAC International Medical Director (IMD) is a Singapore-based medical affairs role leading JAPAC regional strategy and scientific engagement for the GU and Hematology portfolio focused on prostate cancer and acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL). The IMD partners with global medical leads and cross-functional teams to translate global strategy into JAPAC-relevant medical plans, supporting evidence generation, medical communications, and stakeholder engagement to inform registrational and lifecycle priorities.

Responsibilities:

  • Global medical leadership: Represent JAPAC on the Global Medical Affairs Team to align regional strategy with global priorities.
  • Regional medical strategy: Provide JAPAC treatment landscape insights to inform registrational support and lifecycle planning.
  • Evidence generation: Lead/support regional evidence initiatives (e.g., investigator-sponsored research, RWE) to address key data gaps.
  • Enable access to medicines through clear understanding and education of treatment value in partnership with cross-functional stakeholders
  • Medical communications: Develop and execute the scientific narrative and deliverables (publications, congresses, medical education, core content).
  • Safety & benefit–risk: Contribute to safety oversight and ensure consistent communication of benefit–risk considerations externally.
  • Scientific partnerships: Strengthen Amgen’s scientific credibility through high-quality engagement with external stakeholders across JAPAC.
  • Advisory boards: Design and run advisory boards to gather expert insights that shape medical strategy and evidence plans.

What we expect from you

Basic Qualifications

Medical Degree: MD or DO (medical doctor) degree from an accredited medical school (or an equivalent doctoral degree such as a PhD or PharmD in a relevant field).

Relevant Experience: Minimum 5 years of oncology-focused Medical Affairs experience.

Regional leadership: Experience in leading GU/Heme medical strategies across multiple JAPAC country affiliates, aligning integrated plans across diverse markets, cross-functional stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced clinical/scientific training: MD with relevant specialty training (board certified/eligible preferred); strong PhD or PharmD candidates considered based on overall profile.
  • Substantial biopharma experience: ~10+ years in Medical Affairs (biotech/pharma/CRO), including pipeline support, launches, and/or mature brand lifecycle management.
  • Therapeutic-area depth: Strong clinical/scientific expertise within the GU and Hematology therapeutic areas.
  • External engagement: Demonstrated success partnering with KOLs, societies, patient groups, and payer/access stakeholders to advance medical objectives.
  • Regulatory & compliance fluency: Working knowledge of major health authorities and guidelines; strong grounding in GCP and relevant medical affairs/clinical research regulations.
  • Drug development & lifecycle acumen: Understanding of end-to-end development through approval and post-approval evidence/medical strategy.
  • Analytical judgment: Strong problem-solving skills and sound medical/scientific judgment in complex, ambiguous situations.
  • Scientific rigor: Ability to apply evidence-based thinking to strategy, communications, and stakeholder dialogue.
  • Matrix leadership: Proven effectiveness leading through influence in cross-functional, matrixed environments.
