What you will do

  • The Senior Manager is responsible for providing technical and administrative leadership in Process Safety Management and High Risk Activities (HRA) Risk Management program areas as well as providing client support to specific higher hazard related activities.  
  • The position requires a focus on continuous improvement, operational reliability and excellence. It is expected that the Senior Manager will provide management support for assigned programs and projects, support serious incident investigation and root cause analysis, and help driving overall risk mitigation and risk reduction initiatives.

  • Responsibilities:
  • Support Amgen EHSS standards, programs and management system to ensure that site is compliant with both local regulatory guidelines and Amgen EHSS requirements such as OSHA Process Safety Management (PSM) and SS651 Occupational Safety & Health Management System, etc.
  • Lead the implementation of key EHSS programs such as Process Safety Management, hazardous gas, pressure safety, combustible dusts etc. as assigned towards full compliance and integration on site. Provide excellent technical and administrative support to the rest of the functional groups in achieving conformances in these areas.
  • Oversee site’s EHSS legal compliance activities such as tracking and performing periodic gap analyses in meeting compliance to the relevant regulations (i.e. MOM, SCDF, NEA etc.). Coordinates internal and external EHSS related inspections, consults with external agencies and officials to ensure site compliance to legal requirements
  • Lead in EHSS risk management program including participation in field walk-down for PSSR, PHA and HAZOP reviews, follow-ups and completes the required action items
  • Maintain and develop EHSS metrics and statistic, track and routinely communicate to upper management.
  • Lead and conduct incident investigations and actively participate in root-cause analysis on EHSS related matters.
  • Implement Behavioral Observation Programs (BOP), proactive inspection, analysis and root cause identification on EHSS related matters and follow up on action item to closure.
  • Supporting change management EHSS evaluations and follow-up actions.
  • Resource in the evaluations of third-party manufacturers/suppliers/service provider as part of pre-qualifications processes.
  • Manage EHSS training requirements (i.e. EHSS training need analysis, qualifications and competency) per Amgen and local regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in the broader scope of Amgen network EHSS, render advice, resources and alignment for a holistic EHSS success across Amgen manufacturing locations globally.
  • The role requires prioritizing workload and resources to effectively support multiple program areas and projects with complex scope, schedule and management objectives.

What we expect of you

Qualifications

  • Doctorate Degree in Engineering, Science, Safety or technical equivalent and 2 years of Environment, Safety and Health experience preferably in manufacturing environments OR
  • Master’s Degree in Engineering, Science, Safety or technical equivalent and 6 years of Environment, Safety and Health experience preferably in manufacturing environments OR
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Science, Safety or technical equivalent and/or 8 years of Environment, Safety and Health experience preferably in manufacturing environments AND
  • 2 years of managerial experience directly managing people and/or leadership experience leading teams, projects, programs or directing the allocation of resources
  • Preference will be given to candidates who understand cGMP requirements and have had worked in the pharmaceutical and/or chemical industries with experience in process safety.
  • Must be a Registered Workplace Safety & Health Officer, trained in auditing and with strong background in local occupational safety, health regulations is a must.
  • Self-starter and positive motivation and ability to work independently to achieve objectives and targets.
  • Demonstrated proficiency of written and verbal communication skills (including technical writing and presentations) with ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with technical, senior management staff and employees at all levels.
  • High level of ethics and focus on quality to ensure accurate and confidential management of personal data.
  • Ability to work in a face-paced environment and manage competing demands and high stress situations.
