This is a rare chance to lead priority brands in Oncology and Rare Disease at a dynamic time in healthcare. We are looking for an experienced marketing leader who combines exceptional leadership skills, strategic agility and strong execution with a consumer-centric/patient-centric mindset. Someone who sees opportunities and possibilities where others see barriers.
You will lead an experienced team and be accountable for the performance of a high-value portfolio, including multiple launches. You will shape strategy, explore previously untapped opportunities, guide the team to make tough trade-offs, and make disciplined investment decisions, enabling a team that thrives on accountability and ambition. Leveraging strong visionary and collaboration skills, you will also contribute across the marketing function to collectively build a team fit for the future.
Scope of Accountability
Full Marketing accountability for Oncology & Rare Disease portfolio performance in Australia
Ownership of local brand and launch strategy aligned to global direction
Leadership of portfolio marketing team (4 Product Managers + 1 Senior Marketing Coordinator)
P&L accountability across portfolio, including budget optimisation and resource allocation
Cross-functional leadership across Sales, Medical, Market Access, Regulatory, Finance, Supply Chain and Business Analysis and Insights and AI
Key Responsibilities
Develops and Executes Strategy
Lead development of local brand and launch strategies in full alignment with global direction, tailored to Australian market realities (PBS restrictions, treatment pathways, state-based health systems).
Own annual Affiliate Brand Plans, including strategic imperatives, KPIs, tactical roadmap, and funding allocation.
Develop Long Range Plans (LRP) with robust performance driver assumptions (market growth, access changes, competitive dynamics).
Drive data informed decision making, ensuring sound trade-off decisions.
Translate access and policy shifts (PBS listings, restriction changes, pricing dynamics) into agile commercial strategy.
Anticipate competitive moves and evolving evidence landscapes, particularly in oncology where data velocity is high.
Commission and oversee high-impact market research in partnership with Business Analysis and Information.
Identify actionable insights across customer segments (specialists, referrers, centres).
Develop and own competitive Key Intelligence Topics (KITs).
Ensure insights drive clear, prioritised actions — not just reports.
Build organisational capability by developing strategic thinking depth within the marketing team.
Delivers Results
Accountable for best-in-class product performance across lifecycle: pre-launch, launch excellence, growth and maturity.
Drive high-impact segmentation and omnichannel marketing strategies for specialist HCP audiences (digital, rep-triggered journeys, congress activation, peer-to-peer programs).
Ensure all promotional activities (detail aids, messaging, digital assets, congress materials) comply with Medicines Australia Code of Conduct and TGA advertising requirements.
Recommend annual national sales targets and quarterly updates in partnership with Sales Leadership.
Develop and champion business cases for new growth opportunities (e.g., indication expansion, patient identification initiatives).Lead Root Cause Analysis (RCA) when performance gaps emerge and implement corrective action plans.
Partner closely with Business Analysis and Information to track KPIs and translate insights into decisive action.
Cross-Functional & Matrix Leadership
Role model exemplary leadership, influencing impact across the organization.

Effectively rally the organization behind brand vision and strategies.
Empower and enable the team to collaborate for impact cross-functionally.
Partner with National Sales Managers to ensure alignment, field engagement and message pull-through.
Collaborate with Medical to ensure strong scientific positioning and compliant education initiatives.
Partner with Market Access to ensure commercial strategy aligns to reimbursement and value positioning.
Manage agency and vendor relationships to deliver operational excellence.
Engage effectively and collaborate with key leadership stakeholders at a local, regional and global level
People Leadership & Talent Development
Lead and inspire a portfolio marketing team (4 Product Managers + 1 Senior Marketing Coordinator)
Attract, develop and retain high-potential talent.
Drive coaching, performance feedback and structured career development conversations.
Lead annual performance processes with clarity and fairness.
Address underperformance decisively while building a culture of growth.

P&L ownership across Oncology & Rare Disease portfolio.

Lead annual budgeting and quarterly reforecasting.

Required qualifications and experience
At least 7 years of marketing experience in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and healthcare industry
At least 3 years of leading a highly performing marketing team
Demonstrated ability to navigate complexity, make tough strategic choices, rally a cross-functional team
Experience in a highly matrixed organisation
Experience in consumer healthcare and/or private market highly desirable
Experience engaging effectively with Senior Leadership teams at a local and regional level
Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in marketing preferred
Experience in an American owned pharma company
