Medical Science Liaison (MSL)

Job Purpose

The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) serves as a scientific expert and trusted partner to healthcare professionals, investigators, and key opinion leaders (KOLs). The role is responsible for executing scientific engagement activities, generating actionable medical insights, supporting evidence generation initiatives, and implementing medical strategies in the field while ensuring the highest standards of scientific integrity and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

Scientific Engagement

  • Develop and maintain deep scientific and clinical expertise in assigned therapeutic areas, products, and disease states.
  • Conduct compliant, non-promotional scientific exchange with healthcare professionals, investigators, and KOLs.
  • Communicate complex scientific and clinical information through one-on-one engagements, scientific presentations, and medical education activities.
  • Establish, develop, and maintain productive relationships with current and emerging scientific experts and investigators.
  • Support execution of regional and national scientific communication plans.

Medical Insights & Field Intelligence

  • Gather and communicate medical insights, treatment trends, unmet needs, and stakeholder feedback from the field.
  • Monitor and report relevant scientific developments and competitive intelligence in accordance with company guidelines.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of scientific interactions and insights.

Clinical Research & Evidence Generation

  • Identify and recommend potential investigators and clinical trial sites to support clinical development programs.
  • Support investigator meetings and study-related activities to facilitate study execution, enrollment, and retention.
  • Coordinate field activities related to Investigator Sponsored Studies (ISS) in accordance with company policies.
  • Support evidence generation and scientific data dissemination initiatives.

Cross-functional Collaboration

  • Partner with Medical Affairs, Clinical Operations, Market Access, Commercial, and other stakeholders to support business objectives.
  • Coordinate KOL engagement activities and communicate relevant scientific information across functions.
  • Provide scientific support for medical education and patient-centered initiatives when appropriate.

Compliance & Operational Excellence

  • Conduct all activities in compliance with company policies, SOPs, local regulations, and industry codes.
  • Maintain high-quality CRM documentation and timely activity reporting.
  • Complete all required compliance and capability training.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Basic Qualifications

  • MD, PharmD, PhD, Master's Degree, or equivalent advanced degree in Life Sciences, Pharmacy, Medicine, or related healthcare discipline.
  • Fluent in Mandarin Chinese and English.
  • Prior Medical Affairs, clinical research, healthcare, or pharmaceutical industry experience preferred.
  • Previous MSL experience in a multinational pharmaceutical or biotechnology company.
  • Strong scientific and clinical knowledge.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Experience working in a cross-functional matrix environment.
  • Strong organizational and project management capabilities.
  • Understanding of clinical research methodology and statistical concepts.
  • Knowledge of drug development and commercialization processes.
  • Experience using CRM systems and digital engagement tools.
  • Ability to build trusted relationships with healthcare professionals and scientific experts.
