Senior Manufacturing Systems Engineer -AI Vision Systems

What you will do

Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. In this vital role you will drive the implementation and expansion of cutting-edge AI Vision Systems & Technologies across Amgen’s global network of manufacturing sites, including at our new advanced Final Drug Product Packaging plant in Columbus Ohio where you will be based. You will collaborate closely with Architects, Development Teams, Business Owners, Subject Matter Experts and other stakeholders to deliver and maintain high-quality, high-value, scalable solutions.

  • Define and maintain the platform roadmap for AI Vision Systems & Technologies across Amgen’s global network of manufacturing sites

  • Lead efforts to design, build, and develop rapid Proof-of-Concepts (POC) Quickly and iteratively prove or disprove the concepts being considered.

  • Work with process subject matter experts (SMEs) to understand key process requirements and transform them into digital automated solutions

  • Lead development on high profile and complex projects to ensure quality and timely delivery of projects by working closely with cross-functional team members

  • Synthesize requirements from clients, customers or end-users to develop the best automation solutions

  • Identify and manage risks associated with the systems, including technological risks, scientific validation, and user acceptance

  • Develop documentation, communication plans and training plans for end users

  • Ensure operational excellence, cybersecurity and compliance.

Basic Qualifications:

Doctorate degree

OR

Master’s degree and 2 years of Life Science/Biotechnology/Pharmacology/Information Systems experience

Or

Bachelor’s degree and 4 years of Life Science/Biotechnology/Pharmacology/Information Systems experience

Or

Associate’s degree and 8 years of Life Science/Biotechnology/Pharmacology/Information Systems experience

Or

High school diploma / GED and 10 years of Life Science/Biotechnology/Pharmacology/Information Systems experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in designing, building and deploying Computer Vision Systems

  • Experience building models and developing algorithms for deep learning, machine learning, and/or artificial intelligence

  • Programming proficiency in Python and an ability to learn new development tools and libraries

  • Strong customer service focus with the proven ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with team members, stakeholders and management.

  • Self-motivated individual with demonstrated ability to learn new concepts and technologies, work cross-functionally in teams (internal and external)

Functional Skills:

Must-Have Skills

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and a passion for tackling complex challenges in manufacturing with technology

  • Experience and understanding of industrial cameras and machine vision technologies

  • Understanding of manufacturing technologies, systems, data and integrations.

  • Experience working with AWS or other cloud technologies in a hybrid-cloud environment

  • Collaborative spirit and effective communication skills to work seamlessly in a cross-functional team

  • An ongoing commitment to learning and staying at the forefront of technology, digital and AI advancements.

  • Experience creating impactful slide decks and communicating data

Good-to-Have Skills:

  • Pytorch/Sagemaker/GreenGrass or equivalent technologies.

  • Experience with GMP background

  • Experience with DevOps and MLOps pipelines for training and maintenance of vision models

  • Experience with stakeholder management, managing a team, ensuring seamless coordination across teams and driving the successful delivery of technical projects

  • Ability to drive projects/company initiatives using Agile methodology

Soft Skills:

  • High degree of initiative and self-motivation.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities successfully.

  • Team-oriented with a focus on achieving team goals.

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
