Advocacy & Stakeholder Relations Manager or Sr. Manager
Reports to: Government Affairs Director

What you will do
Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. The Advocacy and Stakeholder Relations Manager or Senior Manager will be responsible for:
- Patient and professional group relations strategic planning and management
- Building advocacy related partner relations plans with a focus on new products and issues management
- Representing Canadian advocacy on global/regional teams
- Lead strategies and relationships with relevant patient and professional advocacy groups, organizations, societies
- Build long term relationships with partners to support identified therapeutic areas
- Develop strategic plan based on patient advocacy engagement for pre-commercialization-stage and in-line products as well as policy
- Serve as a key relationship manager with patient advocacy organizations for early stage assets and ensure productive ongoing partnerships
- Partner collaboratively with business functions (including, but not limited to: Commercial, Medical, Policy and Government Affairs) to determine opportunities and needs for advocacy engagement
- Coordinate related national and regional partner activity
- Establish governance model and key principles for partner engagement
- Develop an advocacy strategy with each group that is aligned to marketing, reimbursement and policy strategies and objectives
- Develop non-financial metrics for measuring relationship success to determine the effectiveness of partner relations
- Develop a formal goal-review process to identify return on partner relations
- Build strong relationships with internal Amgen “partners” to align functional strategies and form close partnerships
- Oversee Advocacy budget activity from both marketing and reimbursement budgets
- Develop strong cross-functional relationships with all interested parties internally, and become an integral member of brand, VA&P and relevant strategic decision-making teams
- Align and form close communications between brand/marketing, public affairs and reimbursement
What we expect of you

Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Science, Communications, Business or related field
- 10 + years of experience in partner relations, with a deep understanding of the current Canadian pharmaceutical/biotechnology reimbursement and regulatory landscape, along with an established network of relationships with key agencies and partner/advocacy groups
Preferred Qualifications:
- Solid strategic capabilities that enable the individual to prospectively identify critical threats, opportunities and trends, to formulate insightful and effective action plans, and to make the appropriate trade-offs to balance short and long term considerations
- The ability to work effectively in a complex cross functional work environment characterized by matrixed team management and informal lines of authority
- Proven leadership and the ability and desire to mentor colleagues
- Superior verbal and written communications skills in order to effectively convey complex concepts and issues at the highest levels of partner groups and industry
- Superior influence and persuasion skills necessary to build partner coalitions in advancing and defending Amgen’s commercial and policy agenda through partners in the complex multi-stakeholder healthcare environment
- Record of accomplishment in supporting product launches and public reimbursement through patient and professional advocacy strategies in challenging circumstances and advancing important policy issues
- Familiarity with biotechnology, basic pharmacology and therapeutics
- Strong interest in health policy and biopharmaceutical policy landscape in Canada
