What will you do

The Senior Associate Business Performance will support a broad range of Business Excellence activities across the Amgen Capability Center Portugal. This role will contribute to initiatives that improve operational effectiveness, strengthen business processes, enhance performance visibility, and support the delivery of key ACCP priorities. The Senior Associate will partner with capability leads, functional teams, and stakeholders to support business planning, performance tracking, process analysis, reporting, operational governance, and execution of cross-functional initiatives. The role will gather and analyze data, develop insights, support root cause analysis, identify improvement opportunities, and help implement practical solutions. The Senior Associate will manage defined low to medium complexity projects or workstreams, helping to establish project plans, coordinate inputs, track progress, prepare updates, and escalate risks or issues as appropriate.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to Business Excellence initiatives across ACCP, including operational performance, process improvement, reporting, governance, and cross-functional business priorities.
  • Implement defined low to medium complexity projects or workstreams that improve operational efficiency, business processes, performance visibility, customer experience, and process controls.
  • Partner with capability leads and functional teams to understand business needs, gather data, document current-state processes, identify opportunities to improve ways of working, and translate findings into initial improvement proposals for review and prioritization.
  • Support the development and maintain performance measures, dashboards, scorecards, and reporting materials that enable data-driven business discussions.
  • Contribute to business reviews, operational governance routines, and leadership updates by coordinating inputs, preparing materials, tracking actions, and following up with stakeholders.
  • Contribute to root cause analysis and problem-solving activities related to operational issues, process gaps, reporting needs, or business performance trends.
  • Track recurring reporting requirements, project milestones, actions, risks, and issues; prepare progress updates and escalate challenges when needed.
  • Conduct ad hoc analyses to investigate operational questions, support decision making, and inform business excellence priorities.
  • Support adoption of tools, templates, standards, and best practices that improve consistency, transparency, and efficiency across ACCP capabilities.

Minimum requirements:

  • Master's degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Operations Management, Data Analytics, or a related field
  • Relevant experience in project management or a similar role
  • Knowledge of business process mapping and performance measurement
  • Proficiency in English

Preferred requirements:

  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to concisely present information to leadership and coordinate cross-functional stakeholders to provide updates and required data
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification or experience with process mapping and leading process harmonization initiatives
  • Proficiency in developing clear and impactful visual communications using tools such as PowerPoint
  • Demonstrated project management and organizational skills
  • Experience with data analytics, visualization, and automation tools such as Tableau, Smartsheet, Alteryx, and UiPath
  • Demonstrated initiative, with the ability to work independently and influence without direct authority
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Action-oriented mindset with enthusiasm for taking on new challenges
  • Results-driven with a proven track record of successfully delivering complex projects
  • Strong project management capabilities, including planning, prioritization, execution, and on-time delivery across multiple initiatives
  • Systems-savvy, with the ability to clearly articulate business processes and operational requirements
  • Strong critical thinking skills, with the ability to proactively anticipate challenges and develop practical solutions
