WHAT YOU WILL DO

In this vital role you will lead inbound/outbound shipments by collaborating closely with internal and external requestors, Amgen transportation & logistics, carriers, customs brokers, and government agencies. This position will be reporting to a Supply Chain Global Hub with interaction to different regions, countries, and time zones.
As part of the Business Process and Technology team, the Specialist, Import/Export will be accountable for process oversight of transactional Trade Compliance controls. By working within established Trade Compliance policies and procedures, this role will support global import and export activities by evaluating and monitoring transactions to ensure right first-time quality. The role will partner cross-functionally with internal stakeholders to define requirements to optimize transactional compliance controls. Will also lead change management initiatives including the development and implementation of business processes.
Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Provide expertise, consult and advise on international Customs and Other Government Agency (OGA) Import/Export requirements.
Resolve commodity classification for shipments.
Review shipping documentation and customs invoices for accuracy including valuation, commodity classification, and country of origin.
Provide support for acquiring applicable shipment permits and licenses.
Review and Resolve SAP-Global Trade Services (GTS) blocks.
Manage and respond to issue requests submitted to global import/export inbox.
Assign Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) classification codes and Export Control Classification Numbers (ECCN) to company’s commodities including drug product, raw materials, chemicals and other materials supporting the company’s business.
Monitor reporting to government agencies and conduct post-entry audits.

Basic Qualifications:
Doctorate degree
OR
Master’s degree and 2 years of Trade Compliance experience
OR
Bachelor’s degree and 4 years of Trade Compliance experience
OR
Associate’s degree and 10 years of Trade Compliance experience
Or
High School diploma / GED and 12 years of Trade Compliance experience
Beyond that, additional preferred qualifications are:
Industry experience with regulatory agencies' interaction.
Customs Broker license (Import/Export) or related educational program
Excellent oral and written communication in English, facilitation, collaboration and executive presentation skills.
Experience in International Trade
Knowledge of compliance principles and end-to-end supply chain concepts
Ability to build working relationships and effectively partner cross-functionally, cross-regionally and at all levels in the organization.
Awareness of industry trends and relationships with industry peers for benchmarking and to share best practices.
