What you will do
Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. We are seeking two Business Excellence Managers to join us — one permanent and one fixed-term position. As a Business Excellence Manager, you will support all capabilities within the Amgen Capability Center Portugal (ACCP), including Site Operations and GCO Capabilities. This role leads business process improvement initiatives, partnering with capability heads and teams to analyze current processes, identify improvement opportunities, perform root cause analyses, and drive process optimization or transfers.
The Business Excellence Manager defines objectives, establishes timelines, monitors progress, and escalates issues when needed. Beyond process improvement, the role supports cross-functional initiatives critical to achieving ACCP’s long-term vision. You will report to the Associate Director, Business Excellence Lead.
Expected travel will be mostly domestic (minimal international) up to 5% of the time.
Key Areas of Responsibility:
Participate in process improvement projects to standardize, simplify and automate business processes to improve the efficiency, effectiveness of process controls, and improve customer satisfaction.
Proactively determine future process improvement opportunities and present options to leadership for review.
Develop visual performance measurements and assist with operational design.
Manage implementation and execution of cross-functional projects across ACCP.
Assist capabilities in developing and monitoring key metrics to monitor performance in delivery to customers, business performance, and operational efficiency.
Create and manage informative, actionable, and repeatable reporting that highlights relevant business trends and opportunities for improvement.
Applies knowledge and understanding of customer needs and other internal/external contacts to identify meaningful process improvements.
Identify and monitor both recurring reporting requirements and assigned and ad hoc project progress by tracking activity; resolving problems; publishing progress reports; recommending actions.
Conduct insightful ad hoc analyses to investigate ongoing or one-time operational issues.

What we expect of you
We are all different, yet we all use our unique contributions to serve patients. The dynamic professional we seek is an individual with these qualifications:
University Degree & minimum of 5 years of experience in engineering operations, data analytics, project management and continuous improvement or IS.
Demonstrated project management and Agile methodologies experience, SCRUM & SAFe, and strong organizational skills.
Proficiency in data analytics, visualization, or automation tools such as Smartsheet, Alteryx, Power BI, JIRA.
Skilled with formulating data and ideas into concise and meaningful visual communication in tools such as PowerPoint.
Strong attention to detail and the ability to work across multiple projects simultaneously.
Demonstrated initiative (self-starting) and influencing without authority.
Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or experience process mapping and leading process improvement projects.
Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to concisely present various subjects to leadership and coordinate all functional leads to provide requested data/update.
Full proficiency in English.
