Building Information Modelling (BIM) / Virtual Design Construction (VDC) Specialist

What you will do

Let’s do this. Let’s change the world! In this vital role you will support the implementation, advancement, and maintenance of BIM and VDC tools across the network. Your focus will be on expanding capabilities, standardizing processes, and implementing an Operational BIM Digital Twin. You will manage and maintain the as-built 2D and 3D models of the facility, support design and construction projects, and contribute to lifecycle management using BIM and Engineering Digital Technology (EDT) processes.

Key responsibilities include:

• Building Information Modelling (BIM) and Virtual Design & Construction (VDC) Subject Matter Expert in Autodesk software and tools.
• BIM/VDC Subject Matter Expert in Autodesk software and tools, including Revit, Plant3D, Inventor, AutoCAD, Navisworks, and other 4D-5D software (e.g., Synchro, Hexagon).
• Lead design and construction projects through the BIM Execution Plan (BEP), ensuring standardization and innovative project management methods for operations turnover, while managing the as-built 2D and 3D models of the facility.
• Support and maintain an as-built BIM model across the facility, overseeing lifecycle management through BIM and Digital Technology (EDT)-based processes, ensuring models and data are ready for operations and compliance with Amgen standards.
• Administer Autodesk BIM CDE and manage data analysis, database programming, and software integration across the network, ensuring reliable centralized data management in collaboration with internal and external partners.
• Collaborate with Site and Global Design and Engineering Teams, Process Development, Manufacturing, and Information Systems to advance digital tools and improve processes across the network.
• Manage and develop high-performance teams, including supervision, training, coaching, and mentoring; lead technical training sessions for BIM, EPD workflows, and relevant software.
• Oversee quality assurance/quality control through the integration of BIM technology in capital projects and facility management, ensuring compliance with Amgen's standards and requirements.
• Develop and maintain program documentation, including standards, templates, models, and collaboration forums.

Basic Qualifications:

Doctorate degree

Or

Master’s degree and 2 years of Engineering or Architectural experience;

Or

Bachelor’s degree and 4 years of Engineering or Architectural experience;

Or

Associate’s degree and 8 years of Engineering or Architectural experience;

Or

High school diploma / GED and 10 years of Engineering or Architectural experience

Preferred Qualifications:

• Strong technical expertise in Building Information Modelling (BIM) and digital tools, with experience in architectural and/or engineering 3D modeling, data management, and software such as Revit, Plant 3D, Inventor, Autodesk BIM, Autodesk Suite, laser scanning, and 4D-5D software (e.g., Synchro, Hexagon).
• Proven experience implementing BIM programs and tools in a regulated environment, working with design, engineering and construction teams on modeling, cost estimation, scheduling, and coordination. Ability to interpret contract documents, drawings, specifications, and project schedules.
• Experience in the asset lifecycle and capital projects execution, with a focus on maintaining quality assurance and quality control through BIM processes in design, engineering and facility management.
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate in a complex, matrix organization, effectively communicating both written and verbally across teams. Proficient in computer applications, including Microsoft Office.
• Experience providing technical support to project teams, particularly in 3D modeling tools, with expertise in Revit and connected databases.
• Proven ability to manage project scope, with multiple deliverables and coordination across internal and external teams.
• Strong analytical skills to identify improvement opportunities and implement solutions.
• Excellent relationship-building and leadership skills, with a focus on collaboration, mentorship, and effective communication.
