Associate Director - Business Operations Partner - Rheumatology and Nephrology

What you will do

Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. In this vital role, you will serve as the Business Operations Partner to the RDBU Rheumatology and Nephrology, acting as a trusted strategic advisor to the General Manager and Brand Leadership Team. You will help translate insights into action by identifying growth opportunities, connecting strategy to execution, and enabling better, faster business decisions.

Working closely with the Business Operations Director, Commercial Data & Analytics, Finance, and cross-functional partners, you will bring together data, insights, and business context to improve performance, strengthen strategic planning, and ensure disciplined execution of business priorities.

Responsibilities include:

Proactive Strategic Business Partnership

  • Serve as a trusted Business Operations partner to the General Manager and Brand Leadership Team.

  • Support the development and execution of Business Unit strategy by integrating commercial insights, market dynamics, financial perspectives, customer feedback, and competitive intelligence.

  • Proactively identify business opportunities, performance gaps, emerging risks, and strategic trade-offs, bringing forward actionable recommendations.

  • Challenge assumptions and provide an objective, data-driven perspective to support business decisions.

Business Performance & Decision Support

  • Partner with Commercial Data & Analytics, Finance, and cross-functional stakeholders to translate data into meaningful business insights and recommendations.

  • Monitor business performance, identify trends, and help drive proactive actions to accelerate growth and improve execution.

  • Support scenario planning, strategic analyses, and executive decision-making through structured problem solving and business storytelling.

  • Develop executive-ready presentations and business narratives that simplify complex information and facilitate leadership discussions.

Strategic Planning & Execution

  • Support Business Unit planning processes, including brand planning, business reviews, forecasting, Long Range Strategy (LRS), and Quarterly Business Reviews.

  • Ensure strategic priorities are translated into clear execution plans with defined owners, milestones, and success measures.

  • Establish feedback loops and performance metrics to monitor progress and support continuous improvement.

  • Coordinate cross-functional alignment to ensure timely execution of key initiatives and leadership decisions.

Organizational Effectiveness

  • Improve ways of working by introducing structure, governance, and best practices into the Business Partnership function that enhance collaboration and execution with the BU.

  • Lead or support strategic projects and cross-functional initiatives that advance Business Unit priorities.

  • Contribute to the continuous evolution of Business Operations by sharing best practices, tools, and lessons learned across Business Units.

What we expect of you

Basic Qualifications

  • Doctorate degree and 3 years of operations, strategy, business analytics, or commercial experience

OR

  • Master's degree and 5 years of operations, strategy, business analytics, or commercial experience

OR

  • Bachelor's degree and 7 years of operations, strategy, business analytics, or commercial experience

OR

  • Associate's degree and 12 years of operations, strategy, business analytics, or commercial experience

OR

  • High school diploma / GED and 14 years of operations, strategy, business analytics, or commercial experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in Business Operations, Strategy & Operations, Commercial Excellence, Consulting, Analytics, or related commercial roles.

  • Strong commercial and business acumen with the ability to translate insights into strategic recommendations.

  • Experience leveraging analytics, forecasting, and performance data to identify growth opportunities and support business decisions.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and structured thinking skills.

  • Excellent executive communication, storytelling, and presentation skills.

  • Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams and build trusted partnerships across a matrixed organization.

  • Experience supporting business planning, performance management, governance, or strategic initiatives.

  • Highly organized with strong prioritization skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

  • Proactive, intellectually curious, and comfortable challenging assumptions with facts and data.

  • Passion for continuous improvement, innovation, and leveraging AI and digital capabilities to improve business performance.

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
