Role: Senior Manager Marketing Investment Optimization – Investment and Media Analytics

MIO OVERVIEW

The Marketing Investment Optimization (MIO) vertical at Amgen is responsible for enabling data‑driven, decision‑grade marketing investment decisions across brands, channels, and portfolios.

MIO brings together Investment Analytics (IA), Media Analytics (MA), and Marketing Science Operations (MSO) to measure effectiveness, quantify incrementality, and optimize marketing investments.

MIO focuses on marketing mix modelling (MMx), Experimentation and Causal Measurement, Optimization, Media and Campaign analytics, Scenario Planning, ensuring that marketing dollars are allocated to maximize business impact. The team partners closely with Brand Marketing, GCC/Agencies, CD&A, and MSO to translate complex analytics into actionable investment decisions.

As a Senior Manager in MIO, you will define how marketing investments are measured, interpreted, optimized, and acted upon, bridging media execution analytics and econometric investment analytics into a single decision framework used by senior leadership.

As the Senior Manager – Investment & Media Analytics within MIO, you will own the strategy, quality, and convergence of Investment Analytics and Media Analytics outputs. You will ensure that campaign‑level media insights and portfolio‑level MMx insights tell a single coherent story that leadership can confidently act on.

You will: 

Strategize Investment & Media Analytics Convergence       

  • Own the integrated analytics strategy that connects:
  • Media and campaign performance analytics
  • Marketing Mix Modelling and optimization
  • Incrementality and experimentation
  • Define enterprise standards and guardrails for how media performance data feeds investment decisions.
  • Ensure MIO insights evolve with increasing channel complexity, data availability, and planning sophistication.

  • Oversee Marketing Mix, Media Analytics & Portfolio Insights
  • Provide senior oversight across MMx, media analytics readouts, and campaign analyses, ensuring alignment and consistency.
  • Guide interpretation of ROI, marginal ROI, impactable sales, and media effectiveness metrics across channels.
  • Enable portfolio‑level investment trade‑offs, balancing brand, channel, and tactic‑level signals.
  • Ensure media insights (reach, frequency, execution quality, pacing) are contextualized.

  • Advance Campaign & Media Analytics at Scale
  • Shape how MIO evaluates campaign effectiveness across digital, broadcast, HCP, and DTC channels.
  • Partner with Media Analytics leadership to set learning agendas, performance goals, and experimentation priorities.
  • Ensure campaign‑level findings inform optimization decisions, not just reporting.

  • Own Incrementality & Experimentation Strategy
    • Define the incrementality measurement framework across media and investment analytics.
    • Establish principles for reconciling:
      • Experiments
      • MMx outputs
      • Media performance and attribution signals
    • Serve as the senior point of view on causal interpretation of marketing impact.

  • Operating Model, Governance & Risk Management
    • Ensure quality, repeatability, and auditability across media and investment analytics deliverables.
    • Drive tight alignment with MSO on data readiness, taxonomy, metric definitions, and dashboards.
    • Anticipate and mitigate risks related to data gaps, conflicting signals, or misinterpretation at senior levels.
    • Ensure leadership receives one integrated narrative, not fragmented analytics outputs.

  • People & Organization Leadership
  • Manage and mentor Managers (L5) across Investment Analytics, Media Analytics, or hybrid pods.
  • Build a leadership bench capable of operating across analytics depth and business fluency.
  • Set expectations for analytical rigor, collaboration, and executive‑ready communication.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s degree (or Bachelor’s with 12+ years) in Economics, Statistics, Data Science, Marketing Science, or related field.
  • Deep expertise in:
    • Marketing Mix Modelling and optimization
    • Media and campaign analytics
    • Incrementality and causal measurement
  • Proven experience influencing senior stakeholders on marketing investment and media decisions.
  • Strong people‑leadership experience, including managing Managers (L5) or equivalent senior roles.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced experience with causal inference and experimentation frameworks.
  • Experience in pharma, healthcare, or regulated marketing environments.
  • Track record of owning portfolio‑level investment and media analytics strategy.
  • Strong executive communication, strategic thinking, and organizational influence.
