Position Summary

The Senior Executive – MEP Operations will be responsible for the day-to-day operation, monitoring, maintenance, and reliability of all Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing (MEP) systems supporting the Genome Valley R&D Campus. This is a hands-on engineering role requiring strong technical expertise in laboratory infrastructure, utilities, and building systems to ensure uninterrupted operations, regulatory compliance, and safe working conditions.

The role will work closely with Facilities Management ( ISP's), Engineering, EH&S, laboratory stakeholders, OEMs, consultants, and service providers to ensure all critical infrastructure is maintained in accordance with Amgen standards and global engineering practices.

Since LAMP (Laboratory Asset Management Program) and LSS (Lab Support Services) are integral to laboratory operations, the Senior Executive should be expected to coordinate with these programs from an MEP and infrastructure standpoint.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Operations

  • Operate and maintain all critical MEP infrastructure supporting laboratory and office operations.
  • Ensure continuous availability and reliability of electrical and mechanical systems supporting research laboratories.
  • Monitor the health and performance of all critical utilities through BMS, EMS and other digital monitoring platforms.
  • Perform routine inspections and technical audits of all plant equipment.
  • Support commissioning, validation, testing and handover of new engineering systems.
  • Participate in shutdown planning, preventive maintenance and annual maintenance activities.
  • Support troubleshooting of electrical, HVAC and utility-related failures with minimum downtime.
  • Review technical reports including thermography, insulation resistance testing, vibration analysis and power quality assessments.

Support operation and maintenance of:

  • HT/LT Electrical Systems

  • DG Sets - developer managed operations
  • UPS Systems
  • Synchronization Panels
  • PCC & MCC Panels
  • Breakers and Switchgear
  • Bus Duct Systems
  • Power Distribution Boards
  • Earthing Systems
  • Lightning Protection
  • Lighting Controls
  • Electrical Protection Systems
  • Energy Metering Infrastructure

Laboratory Infrastructure Support

Provide operational support for engineering systems associated with laboratory environments including:

  • Chemical storage support infrastructure
  • Solvent storage utility systems
  • Laboratory exhaust systems
  • Critical ventilation systems
  • Emergency utility systems
  • Utility distribution networks
  • Safety interlocks
  • Engineering support for laboratory equipment utilities

Contractor & Vendor Management

  • Coordinate daily activities of IFM partners, OEMs and specialist engineering vendors.
  • Verify quality of preventive and corrective maintenance activities.
  • Review service reports and ensure timely closure of observations.
  • Supervise contractor safety and compliance during engineering works.
  • Monitor AMC and SLA performance.

Asset Reliability

  • Support preventive, predictive and condition-based maintenance programs.
  • Maintain equipment history, asset registers and maintenance documentation.
  • Monitor equipment lifecycle and identify reliability improvement opportunities.
  • Support spare parts planning and critical inventory management.

Compliance & Safety

  • Ensure engineering operations comply with Amgen EH&S requirements.
  • Follow Lock-Out/Tag-Out (LOTO), Permit-to-Work and electrical safety procedures.
  • Support statutory inspections and regulatory compliance.
  • Participate in emergency response and business continuity activities.
  • Maintain engineering documentation, SOPs and maintenance records.

Reporting & Digital Operations

  • Update CMMS with work orders and maintenance history.
  • Develop engineering dashboards using Power BI or similar reporting tools.
  • Monitor utility consumption and equipment performance trends.
  • Generate engineering KPIs including uptime, asset reliability, preventive maintenance compliance and energy performance.
  • Support digitalization and automation initiatives within Engineering Operations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
  • 5–9 years of experience in operation and maintenance of large commercial, pharmaceutical, life sciences, manufacturing or laboratory facilities.
  • Experience supporting mission-critical MEP infrastructure.
  • Experience working with integrated facilities management providers and OEMs.

Technical Knowledge

Knowledge of laboratory environments, pharmaceutical or biotechnology facilities will be considered a strong advantage.
