BI Platform Administrator – Informatica with Teradata
Job Summary
Amgen is seeking a BI Platform Administrator – Informatica with Teradata with 5–8 years of experience to join our Enterprise Data & Analytics (EDA) organization within Global Information Systems (GIS).
In this role, you will be responsible for administering and optimizing Amgen’s Informatica and Teradata ecosystems, ensuring they deliver secure, high-performance, and compliant data integration and analytics capabilities that support Amgen’s mission of serving patients.
You will partner with data engineers, architects, and platform teams to manage enterprise data pipelines, optimize Teradata workloads, and maintain seamless integration between Informatica ETL processes and Teradata data warehouses.
What You Can Do (Key Responsibilities)
Informatica Administration
Administer, configure, and maintain Informatica environments (PowerCenter, IICS, IDQ, EDC, Axon).
Manage repositories, domains, node configurations, and integration services.
Perform installation, upgrades, patches, and system migrations across DEV/QA/PROD environments.
Monitor ETL jobs, session logs, and workflow performance; tune for optimal throughput.
Implement Informatica security, user provisioning, and audit policies aligned with Amgen’s governance standards.
Automate recurring administrative and operational tasks using shell scripts, Python, or Jenkins pipelines.
Teradata Administration
Administer and manage Teradata databases, ensuring performance, scalability, and availability across enterprise workloads.
Manage database objects, space allocation, partitions, and user/session configurations.
Perform Teradata version upgrades, patches, and maintenance in collaboration with infrastructure teams.
Monitor system performance using Viewpoint, Teradata Manager, PMON, and DBQL; identify and resolve query bottlenecks.
Optimize ETL and SQL performance through workload management (TASM), statistics collection, and index tuning.
Develop, deploy, and maintain Teradata utilities such as BTEQ, FastLoad, MultiLoad, TPump, and TPT for efficient data movement.
Ensure backup/recovery and disaster recovery readiness using BAR (Backup Archive Restore) processes.
Implement role-based security and data access control in line with Amgen’s data compliance requirements (GxP, SOX, 21 CFR Part 11).
Collaborate with Informatica developers to improve ETL–Teradata integration performance and throughput.
Support capacity planning and workload balancing across multi-node environments.
Integration & Collaboration
Collaborate with data engineering, BI, and infrastructure teams to support Amgen’s enterprise data warehouse, Snowflake, and cloud platforms.
Work closely with the DevOps team to automate deployment, monitoring, and CI/CD pipelines for Informatica and Teradata jobs.
Support analytical and visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau) by maintaining reliable backend data pipelines.
Participate in on-call rotation and provide L2/L3 production support for critical BI workloads.
Maintain detailed operational documentation, SOPs, and change management records per Amgen’s validation processes.
What We Expect of You
Deliver stable and compliant Informatica and Teradata platforms that meet Amgen’s uptime, performance, and audit standards.
Proactively identify and mitigate performance issues, resource contention, and system vulnerabilities.
Champion automation, standardization, and proactive monitoring within the BI ecosystem.
Support modernization initiatives such as Teradata-to-cloud integration, Informatica Cloud (IICS) adoption, and Snowflake migration.
Collaborate across GIS, Data Governance, and Enterprise Architecture teams to drive best practices.
