ABOUT THE ROLE

Role Description:

Theroleis responsible forleadingandmentoringteam members withintheClinical Design and Analysistechnology servicesgroupthat build and transformtechnologycapabilitiesthatpositivelyimpactbusiness outcomes.This individualwillbe responsible fordeveloping and leadinga highly talentedteam that is built for delivering high-end and innovative technologiesin support of biostatisticalstudy design and analysis.

The ideal candidate will have a proventrack recordof leadership in technology-driven environments forclinical design and analysisand a passion for fostering innovation and excellence in the biotechnology industry. Additionally, collaboration with cross-functional and global teamsis required toensure seamless integration and operational excellence. The ideal candidate will have a strong background inend-to-end softwaredevelopment lifecycle in aScaled Agile Frameworkcoupled with leadership and transformation experience. This role demands the ability to drive and deliver against key organizational strategic initiatives, foster a collaborative environment, and deliver high-quality results in a matrixed organizational structure. 

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage large, diverse teams within a matrixed organization. 

  • Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement. 

  • Attract and recruit top talent as part of an extensive Technology organization to behired within India. 

  • Develop talent, motivate the team, delegate effectively, champion diversity within theteamand act as a role model of servant leadership. 

  • Responsible for managing, growing, and developing the Amgen Technology team in India, ensuring global ways of working are imbedded in the local organization

  • Collaborate with geographically dispersed teams, including those in the US and other international locations. 

  • Understand the decision-making process, workflows,and business and information needs of businesspartners and stakeholders

  • Develop and implement strategic plans forworkforceand technology. 

  • Contributeanddefine businessoutcomes +requirements, technologysolutions,andservices

  • Oversee thesoftware development lifecycle 

  • Improve activities being measured by crafting, monitoring,andoptimizingrelevant feedback loopsthrough'test & learn' activities

  • Ensure communication of key performance metrics andanalysis ofunmet needs

  • Work withProduct Owners,ServiceOwnersand/ordelivery teams to ensurethatdeliverymatchescommitments, acting as an escalation point andfacilitatingcommunication when service commitments are not met

  • Participate instakeholderandotherleadershipmeetings, working with other parts of the organization, and functional groups to ensure successful delivery

  • Maintainstrategic relationshipsandstrong communicationwith the leadership team about IS services and service roadmapsto ensurethat all the stakeholders feel informed and engaged

  • Follow global standards and practices. 

  • Ensure ongoing alignment with strategy, compliance,and regulatory requirements fortechnologyinvestments and services

  • Facilitate best practice sharing, ensuring ongoing alignment withthe Technology & Digitalstrategy

  • Oversee operating budgets andproduct teambudgets, ensuring regular review of actuals and latest estimates, managing according to agreed governance

  • Ensure alignment ofTechnologyservice plans acrossorganization

  • Provide education to new partners with regards to IT service offerings

  • Remain accountable for ensuringoverall organizational compliance to quality/compliance requirements such as GXP and Privacy

Basic Qualifications and Experience:

  • Master’s / Bachelor’s degree with 13-17 years of experiencein Life Sciences Information Technology Management or related field

Functional Skills:

Must-Have Skills

  • Experience leading and managing software engineering teams in a matrix organization.

  • Strong people management, mentoring, and team-building skills.

  • Hands-on experience in Full Stack Development using AWS and cloud-native technologies such as Containers, Docker, Serverless, and Microservices.

  • Strong programming skills in Python or Java, along with React.

  • Good knowledge of SQL and relational databases.

  • Experience with DevOps, CI/CD, and modern software development best practices.

  • Strong understanding of Agile and SAFe methodologies.

  • Experience using Jira Align for Agile planning and portfolio management.

  • Ability to define and monitor engineering KPIs to improve team productivity.

  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and collaboration skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.

  • Good understanding of enterprise IT architecture and cloud technologies.

Good-to-Have Skills

  • Experience in the pharmaceutical or life sciences industry.

  • Good knowledge of Databricks and modern data engineering platforms.

  • Good knowledge of, or experience with, R programming.

  • Knowledge of clinical pharmacology, pharmacokinetics, or biostatistics.

  • Experience establishing business partnerships and IT governance practices.

  • SAFe certification or other Agile certifications are preferred.

Professional Certifications:

  • Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) for Teams(preferred)

Shift Information:

This position requires you to work a later shift and may beassigneda second or third shift schedule. Candidates must be willing and able to work during evening or night shifts, asrequiredbased on business requirements.
